Michael Cudlitz discusses the potential of returning to The walking dead universe and describes the details of the unrealized project of the story of Abraham's origin. Cudlitz played the character of Abraham Ford, a former US Army sergeant who was introduced in The walking dead season 4 with Eugene Porter (Josh McDermitt) and Rosita Espinosa (Christian Serratos). In Season 7, Abraham finally meets his demise at the end of Lucille Negan's spiked baseball bat, remaining fearless and defiant even in the face of death.
During an exclusive interview with On-screen tirade, Michael Cudlitz addressed the potential of his return The walking dead universe and described in detail the unrealized project of the origin story of Abraham. The actor says yes.”100%“I want to return to the world The walking dead and revealed that there was once a plan for the episode Tales of the Living Dead it was “something like the origin story of AbrahamRead his full comments below:
Yes, 100%. We've talked about this before – I love this world. I had a great time doing this. I don't think I've ever had so much fun on set before or since. It was wonderful to be a part of this world and at some point they were talking about something
The walking dead
universe.
Tales of the Living Dead
I think that's what they called it. They did six episodes of this where it was almost like
Black mirror
-type, thing from an alternate universe. I think one of the scripts that they had – and still have – is sort of an Abrahamic origin story, which they've talked about before. If they come to me with it and everything is fine in time, then absolutely. I love these guys, I had a lot of fun doing it.
It probably wouldn't be a limited series
After Abraham died in season 7, Michael Cudlitz returned to The walking dead multiple times as director of four episodes from seasons 9 to 11. After the original series ended in 2022, the series continued with multiple spinoffs focusing on beloved characters, including Daryl Dixon's Maggie and Negan in the middle Dead Cityand Rick and Michonne Those who live. However, each of these spinoff series was a sequelrather than a prequel, focusing on the main characters after the events of the original series.

The Walking Dead may be over, but the horde of TWD spin-offs is still moving forward, each with its own distinct setting, characters, and tone.
Since Abraham was killed off, it's unlikely he'll lead his own limited series. However, as Cudlitz recalls, an episode would be much more likely Tales of the Living Dead for Abraham. Set to premiere in 2022, the spin-off is an episodic anthology series following new and existing characters from the series The walking dead universe including Alpha and her daughter Lydia. After the first six episodes, a spinoff will be created, titled a separate series More stories from the Walking Dead universe.
Our take on Abraham's return to the Walking Dead universe
What would be the best way?
Abraham remains one of the most beloved characters from The walking deadmaking him a likely candidate to return to the universe. However, since the character has been killed off, a limited series run remains unlikely as they seem to be reserved for continuations of the original series rather than prequels. On the other hand, episode More stories from the Walking Dead universe seems to be the best way to tell the story of Abraham's origins. Even though much of Abraham's story is already known, there is still much to tell about this character.
