Week 7 is shaping up to be one of the best weekends ever The college football season lived up to expectations as tight games continued from noon EST into the early hours of Saturday evening.
As every year in October, there were several dangerous situations on the pitch.
To win, Alabama, USC and Illinois had to suffer potential losses. Oregon made its mark in the Big Ten's victory over Ohio State. Kansas State picked up a narrow win over Colorado. And Texas is tough The reason is because it's the top team in the country.
Each week saw its fair share of winners and losers, and Week 7 was no exception.

Oregon: quack, quack, quack. Oregon Duck They had their biggest test yet Beating Ohio State in one of the best games we've seen this season. Dillon Gabriel was a monster on the court, leading the Ducks offense to a 32-31 victory. Oregon gained 496 yards of total offense and stopped the drive late thanks to Will Howard, who had more time to get into field goal position. This will be a big deal for Oregon coach Dan Lanning, and we can only hope there will be a Big Ten title game or a playoff rematch.
Vanderbilt: Diego Pavia continues the performance of the Commodores, who had a 14-point lead away at Kentucky. Not only did Vanderbilt win, Diego finished with two touchdowns, and the Doors defense gave Kentucky trouble all evening. Vandy is currently 4-2 on the season and has a good chance to finish the season with seven or eight wins if he continues to play this way. Business in Nashville was booming.
Stan Penn: Just when it seemed like USC would pull the trigger after the first half, Penn State kept attacking the Trojans until the last minute. Tyler Warren had one of the best performances of the season in college football, gaining 224 rushing yards and a touchdown. If there was any doubt that James Franklin's squad had not proven it deserved to be a Big Ten championship contender given its schedule, a victory in Los Angeles should put those doubts to rest. A great away win for the Nittany Lions.
Texas: It's always good to beat your opponents, but it's also good to blow them up. The Texas Longhorns defense was stout, stifling the Oklahoma Sooners offense. Quinn Ewers and the Texas offense scored 34 points in his first game back from an injury that sidelined him for two games. After a dominant 34-3 victory over Oklahoma, Texas is now 6-0 for the first time since 2009.
Jade fish: Washington's first-year coach has an early signing. With a shocking victory over Michigan, Fish helped the program avenge its loss in the national championship game and earn a huge conference victory in his first year in the Big Ten. Washington's disastrous loss to Rutgers is starting to look more and more like an anomaly.
Army and Navy: Two military schools won on Saturday. Army won against UAB 44-10, and Navy had a bye. Both schools were in the win column, however, because they did something that hadn't been seen since the 1960s: Each school landed in the AP Top 25 poll. The poll was released Sunday and placed Army at No. 23 and Navy at No. 25. The countdown is on before their rivalry match, which may be one of the most interesting in recent years.

and boiler: It was ostensibly a playoff elimination game against LSU on Saturday night in Death Valley, and Ole Miss didn't trail until the final play of the game. It was one of those nights for the Rebels as they were unable to create enough separation in the first half and the Tigers made them pay for their lack of goals. Another disaster for Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss, who had College Football Playoff aspirations. Now they will need a lot of help and a victory, which does not seem possible at the moment.
USC: The Lincoln Riley era at USC has already begun and the losses are starting to pile up. By holding Penn State to a 20-6 lead in the first half and then allowing the Nittany Lions to convert two fourth-down conversions en route to tying the game in regulation, the Trojan defense fell in favor of the team, along with a stagnant offense that now loses to USC three losses in the season and effectively eliminated from the playoffs. Another loss for Lincoln Riley and fans are fed up with this crap.
Alabama: I know they won, but this Alabama team looks like a shell of its former self. After beating South Carolina 27-25 the week after losing to Vanderbilt, I don't know what the identity of this team is. This team lacks the killer instinct and physicality that we have seen in the past. Now they head to Knoxville for a playoff qualifier against Tennessee, which has its own problems on offense. Either way, the natives are frustrated with Nick Saban's life and we're barely even halfway through the season.
Will Howard: The Buckeyes were in good position out of field goal range on third-and-20 with six seconds left in the fourth quarter against Oregon, but what's brutal for Will Howard is that he didn't get at least one shot into the end zone. What was concerning was Howard's lack of awareness, which allowed him to fumble out of the pocket on third down and run downfield or throw an incomplete pass. With star receivers Jeremiah Smith and Emeka Egbuka, you have to at least give them a chance to make a play and even intercept a pass to get within field goal range.
Rutgersa: The Scarlet Knights are off to a hot start to the season after four straight wins to open the season. Greg Schiano was on the verge of getting free “Gabagula” for the rest of his life. However, a 35-point loss to Wisconsin halted all of the school's progress. An impressive victory over Washington two weeks ago could be in vain if Rutgers can't get back on track. Two straight conference losses definitely put a damper on what was already a promising season.
