During a discussion hosted by HIFF advisory board member and CBS Sunday Morning contributor Alina Chow, The Material actress opened up about her ex-husband, Bruce Willis,69, and her diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
'You know, I've said this before. What is a disease? I think you have to accept it deeply for what it is,' Moore told the festival audience. 'But where he is, he is stable.'
'What I always encourage is to meet them where they are. I think it's a losing game when you're holding on to what you've had,” he added.
'But if you go to meet them where they are, there is great beauty and sweetness.
Demi was married to the Die Hard star from 1987 to 2006. The former couple and good friends share daughters Rumor, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 30.
During the panel, a highlight reel of his career was shown, featuring clips from Ghost (1990), An Indecent Proposal (1993) and GI Jane (1997).
The A Few Good Men star also talked about how he felt watching that reel of his films backstage.
“I felt like I was seeing a lot of life,” he said. 'It really feels like a lifetime, because the gift is to keep changing and growing.
'All I was thinking was, “Thank God, I've had opportunities to keep going.”
