Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Scarlett #5GI Joe Storm Shadow has just picked up a powerful new upgrade straight from the game Transformers knowledge. In Skybound Comics' “Energon Universe”, which features a variety of them GI Joe, TransformersAND Void rivals series into one shared continuity, Scarlett's recent infiltration into the Arashikage clan saw her join forces with both Jinx and Storm Shadow. The last issue of Image's was published for this purpose Scarlett the miniseries depicts Arashikage recovering an impressive new weapon with her help.
In picture comics Scarlett #5 by Kelly Thompson and Marco Ferrari, Shana O'Hara aka Scarlett continues to gain the trust of the Arashikage on a mission to retrieve the weapon known as the “Sword of Life”. For this purpose the issue begins with Storm Shadow himself obtaining the sword, just moments before the arrival of several Cobra agents who want the relic for themselves. However, you can immediately see that this is not an ordinary blade:
Glowing with pink energy, in an issue of Cobra Commander himself, it was confirmed that the Sword of Life is powered by energythe same power source comes from the planet Cybertron and is used as fuel by the Transformers themselves. As such, it's abundantly clear that Storm Shadow has just become a major force to be reckoned with (even more so than before).
Storm Shadow returns the Sword of Life to the Arashikage
The beginning of a new chapter
Avoiding Cobra, Shana ultimately decides to stay with Arashikage for the rest of the issue. Understanding that a position with such a closed and influential ninja clan is rare and likely never to be repeated, Scarlett decides to maintain her cover, continuing to gain the Arashikage's trust and credibility alongside Jinx, who does the same. This will probably be a good thing, especially since Stormshade is now the permanent wielder of the Sword of Life.
Both Scarlett and Jinx assumed that the blade would go to the Tough Master Arashikage. However, it seems that the return of the legendary sword to the clan is seemingly a symbol heralding a “new phase” of the clan, in which Storm Shadow leads with the mighty blade. That said, details of this new era remain sparse following the release of the last issue Scarlett.
What will Storm Shadow and Arashikage do next?

At this point, Storm Shadow still appears to be a loyal member of the Arashikage. Cobra Commander No. 5 confirmed that the titular leader does indeed have his eye on the ninja warrior, as do other factions and agents. However, there is no indication that Storm Shadow will join forces with Cobra (at least not yet).
Additionally, Storm Shadow probably has no reason to leave or betray the Arashikage as he did in the past GI Joe continuity. Finally, it's worth noting that Storm Shadow's brother-turned-rival Snake Eyes has yet to debut in the Energon universe. In any case, it will be very exciting to see what Storm Shadow does next, now that he has such a powerful weapon in his possession that has apparently given him a key leadership role in the Arashikage Clan in the future.
