Texas showed why Red River is the best team in the country by dominating the Oklahoma Sooners in Dallas.
Quinn Ewers threw for 199 yards and a touchdown and ran for a score before returning to his role as Texas' starting quarterback.

The 120th competition at Red River also marked the first time the schools met in their annual showdown as members of the Southeastern Conference.

After missing some time with an abdominal strain, Ewers was a little rusty and was knocked out early in the match.
“It's definitely nice to be back,” Yers said. “It was a rough start, but overall I think we did a good job overcoming some early adversity.”

Texas running back Quintrevion Wisner ran for 118 yards and a touchdown for the Longhorns, and his fumble at the end of a long run was recovered in the end zone by teammate Silas Bolden for a touchdown.

The name of the annual game is a nod to the Red River between Texas and Oklahoma. The series dates back to 1900 and has been played every year at the Texas State Fair since 1929.
Oklahoma has won five of the last six rivalry games while both programs were in the Big 12, but the Longhorns hold a 64-51-5 edge in the series.

Oklahoma continued its offensive on Saturday. The Sooners scored three points and had 89 rushing yards that day. Michael Hawkins Jr., the Sooners' true freshman quarterback, finished with 148 passing yards and no touchdowns.
Oklahoma totaled 237 yards of offense.
Texas took the lead when Ewers rolled right before throwing left to Gunner Helm for a 7-yard TD and a 7-3 lead early in the second quarter. This came after the Longhorns lost a game for the first time this season.
“We played well in all three periods. We never want to be one-dimensional,” said fourth-year Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian. “When we struggled early on offensively, our defense was… We felt like we had a team that could do it.”

Sarkisian, who previously was Alabama's offensive coordinator Nick SoapRed River appreciates the competition.
“I was in some great matches and some great rivalries,” Sarkeesian said. “It's very special.”
Texas will focus on the fifth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs. The highly anticipated match begins on October 19 at 7:30 PM ET in Austin, Texas.
