Santos coach Fábio Carille celebrated this Saturday's victory over Mirasol and his return to the leadership of Serie B. Even with the win, the team's performance was not good and the coach experienced boos because of this, but he played it down. Above all, he also explained the changes made to the starting line-up for the tournament.

“I respect the fans, let it happen and work quietly like we've been doing. Our work, the meetings, bring peace to the athletes. I hope (fan support) returns. At the very least, stop yelling. But if that doesn't happen, we work quietly here,” he said.

The coach highlighted the win and revealed details of the dressing room situation after the match.

“It was a match where I imagined Mirasol had more possession than us. I haven't seen the numbers yet. We have a lot of dedication to them as a team. I saw people commenting and it looks like it was. Three balls from Guilherme hit the post and didn't go in. I am very happy for the atmosphere inside CT, for the celebration of the players and directors in the locker room who is the best on the field based on the characteristics of the opponent”, he said.

Willian Pigot and Luann Perez

Fábio Carille also commented on the changes made to the lineups. The coach started with defender Luann Perez and striker Willian Picot. Indeed, both scored in the win that gave Peixe the lead.

“That was the idea, we did a study on all the teams in Series B, we only had four guys. That's why we selected Luan, I said that there is nothing against Jairi, I said from experience. “No matter how much you train, Willian's entry is all that is needed, because Zega is like a third defender, he works a lot from the back, and even if I don't last long without the ball, this is an important victory for our journey in Serie B”, he said.

Absence against Chapecoense

Carille also hinted at a possible line-up where Chapcoynes can't rely on defender Gill and left-back Escobar.

“It depends a lot. I talked about experience. With Chermont, Zaire and Souza stepping in, it will be too young for a tough game there. I haven't stopped to think about it yet. Tomorrow I will start analyzing the opponent, which was very bad a few games ago, it will put the best game on the field.

As a result, Santos, reaching 56 points, leads Serie B again, trailing Novorizontino with 54. So, Santos returns to the field on Wednesday when they face Chapecoense in the 32nd round of Series B, with the ball rolling at 8pm (Brasilia time), at the Arena Condá in Chapecó (SC).
