Winner of 'best tasting' UK supermarket Christmas range announced – and it's not Waitrose or M&S

For those wondering where to pick up their Christmas trimmings and treats this year, Aldi might be your best bet.

The budget supermarket has been awarded winner of Good Housekeeping's annual Christmas taste test, beating rival supermarkets including Waitrose, Tesco, EM, Lidl and more across several categories.

The German Supermarket won on several fronts, including best champagne, turkey, Christmas pudding and vegetarian starter.

Earlier this week, Aldi officially launched its 2024 festive range, packed with old favorites and eye-catching new additions.

Out of an impressive 730 products tested, the discount supermarket took top honors for a range of Christmas dinner staples.

The supermarket was tested against more from 97 brands, including all major UK supermarkets.

The brand's Veuve Monsigny Premier Cru champagne has been awarded best champagne by Good Housekeeping, making it the perfect drink to kick off the festivities.

The £22 bottle beat competitors on taste as well as price, with Selfridges' £34.99 and M&S' £28 bottles failing to produce the perfect fizz.

Winning bubbles will be available for purchase from the weekend onwards.

Wine expert and Wine Lady Sam Caporn hailed the sparkling wine as the “best supermarket Champagne in the UK” after a recent tasting.

The retailer even won on mince pies, with a panel of judges salivating over its “soft, flaky pastry” and “sweet caramelised fruit filling”.

Aldi's specially selected mince pies, costing 38p, or £2.29 for a pack of six, have overtaken the steepest supermarket treats and can now be bought in store.

And for the perfect centerpiece, the German brand is selling a juicy, specially selected Roly Poly whole turkey – which was voted the best whole turkey for its 'natural sweet flavor' and 'umami depth'.

The prize-winning birds will hit retailer shelves on December 19th, just days before the big day.

The specially selected orange and maple pudding, costing just £9.99, was voted best tasting Christmas pudding for its delicious sweet flavors and will hit stores on November 1.

And a returning favorite also impressed the judges – Aldi's specially selected best 5-year vintage cheddar roast, which was awarded first place for vegetarian starter.

The cheesy treat will be available in store from December 6 and will cost £6.

The budget retailer was also recently named the cheapest supermarket by consumer champion Qual?, winner for the 11th consecutive month.

The retailer announced the launch of 21 new Christmas products earlier this week, with everything from Christmas Day essentials to exclusive new treats.

While the German Supermarket has everything you need for a traditional Christmas meal, it has also launched interesting alternatives to spice things up.
