A British beautician could be imprisoned in the US for 60 years for allegedly bringing cocaine worth £3.5 million to Mexico in her suitcases from her holiday.

Kimberly Hall, 28, claimed she was forced to carry suitcases for two men who offered her a free vacation to Cancun.

Her father said they were “developers” and reportedly “invited her to stay with them” after meeting her on another holiday in Portugal.

She claimed they “threatened” her when she arrived in Mexico and “forced her to bring two packed suitcases home.”

Her family says they contained $250,000 in cash. But investigators from the Department of Homeland Security in Chicago found 43 kg of cocaine worth $4.5 million in bags at O'Hare Airport.

Officers were waiting for her at Chicago's O'Hare airport as she prepared for a connecting flight to Manchester.

She was allegedly found weighing over 900 grams, which puts her in the upper bracket of the sentencing ladder.

It is a Class X felony, punishable by 15 to 60 years in prison.

Class X drug offense charges typically involve people who intend to manufacture or distribute illegal drugs.

Penalties may vary depending on the amount of drugs in your possession.

He is currently in the Cook County Jail in Chicago awaiting trial.

Several infamous criminals were held at the prison, including Al Capone, Tony Accardo, Frank Nitti, Larry Hoover, Jordan Tate, Jeff Fort, Richard Speck, John Wayne Gacy, and the Chicago Seven.

People protesting about conditions there have said in the past that some prisoners do not have access to soap, which limits their physical activity.

A coalition of former inmates, relatives of current inmates and advocates say inmates' First Amendment rights are violated daily because they are not allowed to worship in the way they choose.

In a statement to CBS 2, the Cook County Sheriff's Office called the group's claims “baseless.”

They said their facility is considered a model nationwide for safety and that inmates are provided with many key services, including mental health care, basic soap and balanced, nutritious meals.
