Is Roman Kemp engaged? Friends say her mum Shirley is 'over the moon' after spotting a show host's girlfriend with a ring on her finger

Roman Kemp seems to have taken his relationship with girlfriend Carmen Cagero to the next level by getting engaged, friends say.

The One Show presenter's romance with Carmen was revealed last month when they were spotted out on a date at Le Petit Maison in Mayfair and the model was recently spotted wearing a ring on her engagement finger.

A source told MailOnline Roman, 31 – who is the son of Spandau ballet star Martin Kemp and singer Shirley Holliman – is ready to settle down and believes he has found the one in Carmen.

They said: 'Roman popped the question and Carmen said yes. Roman has long wanted to settle down and start a family, so this is a very exciting time for them.

“He's been seeing Carmen for a few months and feels certain he's the one.

'Roman's mum Shirley is also over the moon and has been telling friends how excited she is for the wedding.'

Carmen, a production and casting assistant, describes herself as a 'TV, film and fashion enthusiast', according to her online bio.

Raised in Brighton, he has a mixed experience in the industry having worked at both Kante Nast and Luckysap Entertainment.

The radio DJ tends to keep his love life out of the spotlight.

Although the couple has kept their relationship under wraps, they were spotted together earlier this year.

Carmen posted a selfie from Roman's swish apartment on her Instagram.

Carmen was also standing next to Roman as they chatted with the Princess of Wales and Queen Camilla at the Sovereign's Creative Industries garden party back in May.

Roman was in a three-year relationship with his ex-girlfriend Anne-Sophie Fleury, although the couple split in 2020.

Carmen also stood by Roman as he chatted with the Princess of Wales and Queen Camilla at the Sovereign's Creative Industries garden party last May.

She was later linked to radio colleague Cody Jones and German model Jed Gerkhoff, but never confirmed a relationship with them.

The presenter previously admitted that she 'doesn't date English girls' because she prefers it when a potential love interest doesn't know who she is.

Speaking about his dating life on the Diary of a CEO podcast, Roman explained that he was more attracted to independent women and longed for a relationship to emulate his parents' 34-year marriage.

'Girls who plan their lives and are busy, attract me more than anything else.

'You look at the women I've dated in the past, they're women who do their own thing, and they do it well,' she said.

Roman explained that he wanted to get away from his fame and fortune and make a connection with someone.

'That's one of the reasons, to be perfectly honest with you, I don't really get on with English girls. I love someone who doesn't know what I do for a living. I love someone who doesn't care,” she said.

Roman was previously in a three-year relationship with his ex-girlfriend Anne-Sophie Fleury, although the pair split in 2020.

News of Roman and Carmen's relationship came just months after Roman revealed his desire to have children and admitted he was 'scared of not having children'.

He revealed his close relationship with his parents and the example they set.

Speaking in an interview with Heat magazine in July, Roman admitted he was also worried about his own infertility and went for a sperm test last year.

The star admitted to the publication: 'I'm scared of not having kids. That's my big thing. I even went for a sperm test when I was 30. I am a family oriented person. '
