Man who took 'stray bullet' during RJ run dreams of reaching 21km: 'I'm so brave'

However, as he approached the station, he was surprised to find a police car following him. The man tried to hide but was shot. “Soon, I started screaming and asking people around me for help,” he recalls.

According to the amateur athlete, the witnesses were very afraid of what happened, but a person helped him and took him to the Emergency Department (UPA) in Ricardo de Albuquerque. There, she says she was the target of racist comments from others waiting for care.

“It's really bad because a young black man came limping in with a gunshot wound to the leg and asked for help, and people didn't know if he was a criminal. There were some racist comments and I started shouting that he was a public servant. , David said he had nothing to do with what was going on.

The resident reports that he then continued filming to stay awake and contact his own family if needed. “I use my digital ID, so if my cell phone goes off and I disappear, no one will know who I am.”

Despite the incident, David says his dream is to reach 21km on the track and that being shot doesn't scare him, but he does take some precautions. “I want to do street running because I'm a very brave guy, I don't give up, but when I come back, I want to focus on my recovery and I will continue. A little more reserved, I want to start training in the gym, I don't like it,” he concluded.

In a note to Terra, the State Secretariat of the Military Police, under the command of the unit, the 14th PBM (Pangu) military police officers received information about a stolen vehicle in Estrada Marechal Alencastro near Ancieta.

David was admitted in the same UPA.

The Rio de Janeiro Civil Police, in turn, has registered a case against 31 DP (Ricardo de Albuquerque) and an investigation is underway to identify the origin of the shot that hit the victim and to clarify the facts, according to the statement.
