Sister of rapist who bombarded his victim with messages in an attempt to intimidate her into changing her story is arrested for perverting the course of justice

THE sister of a vile rapist who was seen “getting off” an unconscious woman has been jailed after bombarding the victim with intimidating messages.

Jamie-Lee Fox, 37, sent the woman raped by her brother a series of threatening messages on Facebook in an attempt to get the victim to change her story to the authorities.

Matthew Fox, 33, was arrested by police shortly after raping his victim near a car park in Peterborough city centre.

He was caught by traffic officers at the top of a parking ramp on Cattle Market Road and was seen “climbing down” from the unresponsive woman.

After being taken into custody, the sex offender requested that his sister, cousin Alfie Smith, 27, and mother Alison Quinn-Gajdur, 58, contact the victim on his behalf.

Fox wanted the woman to “realize how serious this was” so she would “force an accurate statement.”

The victim then received several phone calls from an unknown number, later discovered to be Smith, who attempted to intimidate her into changing accounts.

The rapist's sister, Jamie-Lee, also tried to contact the woman via Facebook Messenger, while Quinn-Gajdur helped contact the victim and provide updates to her son, who was behind bars.

Sister Jamie-Lee Fox was yesterday sentenced to two years and eight months in prison, having previously been found guilty of perverting the course of justice.

Their cousin, Alfie Smith, was jailed for three-and-a-half years on Wednesday for the same offence.

The sex offender's mother, who received the same charge, walked away a free woman after receiving an 18-month suspended sentence.

It comes shortly after 33-year-old Fox was sentenced to 11 years in prison last Friday following the conclusion of a trial at Cambridge Crown Court.

The court heard how officers caught Matthew Fox climbing down from the unconscious victim as she lay on the ground in the early hours of July 22, 2022.

The pair did not know each other but met while drinking in a pub and going out together, a jury heard.

CCTV operators monitored them as they left a nearby pub and alerted police after becoming concerned for the woman's welfare, believing she was highly intoxicated.

In a police interview, Fox stated that the two began kissing at the bar before walking to the car and having consensual sex in the doorway.

Traffic officers found the pair at the top of an access ramp to a parking lot on Cattle Market Road, with Fox getting off the woman who was lying on the ground, unconscious.

An ambulance was called and took the woman to hospital, where she regained consciousness several hours later, and Fox was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault.

He was also convicted of perverting the course of justice, after admitting the crime alongside his three family members.

Their cousin, Ali Smith (pictured), was jailed for three-and-a-half years on Wednesday for the same offence, as was Fox's mother, Alison Quinn-Gajdur, who received a suspended sentence.

Detective Constable Abbie McQuaid said: 'Fox took advantage of the woman being drunk.

'She was not in a position to consent to sexual activity and required medical assistance.

“We have been working closely with partner businesses and agencies across the county to identify predatory behavior and protect women and girls.

“Thanks to CCTV operators who were concerned about what they saw, our officers were alerted and were able to intervene.

'Anyone who interferes with an investigation and attempts to pervert the course of justice will be dealt with firmly.'
