Nat Barr puts on a brave face with her Chanel Sunrise co-stars after being slammed for 'out of touch' comments about her sons

Natalie Barr was all smiles when she stepped out with her Channel Seven co-stars for an event in Sydney on Thursday.

The trip comes a day after he was slammed for 'out of touch' comments he made about Australia's housing crisis.

The Sunrise presenter attended the Coles 2024 Christmas launch in Lunar Studios and brought co-host Matt Shirvington45, and Morning Show co-host Kylie Gillis57, along for the ride.

Natalie, 56, wore a high-collared gray dress that ended just above the ankles.

She teamed the outfit with a smart black blazer with sleeves rolled up to the elbow.

Natalie finished off her outfit with a pair of pointed-toe black heels and opted to dial back the bling, opting for some gold earrings.

Kylie, meanwhile, put on a leggy display in a short blue dress with light blue pinstripes that ended above the knee.

The Chanel Seven star wore a pair of strappy white heels which were accented with some colorful 'pom pom' embellishments.

Natalie's Sunrise co-host Matt Shirvington took a more casual approach to his ensemble, wearing a black polo shirt under a navy blue jacket.

She paired this with a pair of navy chinos and a pair of white trainers.

Natalie and Matt hung it up for the photographers on the photo wall and the trio had a great day.

Natalie and Kylie were eventually joined by Kohl's ambassador and celebrity chef Curtis Stone, and the trio beamed broadly as they posed for photographers.

It comes after Natalie was recently criticized for sharing concerns that her grown children Lachlan, 22, and Hunter, 19, will not be able to afford a home due to the housing crisis.

He made the comments while speaking on Wednesday's Hot Topics section of Housing Minister Bill Wang's Labor Help to Buy bill, which is due to be reintroduced to Parliament by Clare O'Neill and opposition finance spokeswoman Jane Hume.

The legislation will allow 40,000 Australians to buy a home with a 2 per cent deposit.

To qualify for this program, buyers must earn less than $90,000 a year or $120,000 a year for couples.

Speaking on Wednesday's Hot Topics segment, Natalie said she was worried her two sons – aged 19 and 22 – would not be able to afford a home after Ms Hume said 'Australians have already rejected this policy across the country'.

Natalie and Kylie were eventually joined by Kohl's ambassador and celebrity chef Curtis Stone, and the trio beamed broadly as they posed for photographers.

'I was lucky enough to buy mine years ago when it was cheaper, but I don't know how my kids are going to fare,' she said.

Natalie has been a Sunrise host since 2020, but she has never opened up about her salary.

However, the Daily Mail previously reported that she was believed to be earning more than $1 million a year.

Viewers slammed her comments on Facebook, saying Natalie would set up her children.

One commented: 'She's the last person to talk about being rich and put her kids up.'

“Many young people buy houses every day without the help of mother and father. Knots (sic) just stirs the pot.'

Another added that Natalie 'makes over $1 million a year.'

'You mean he's been at Sunrise for 20 years? Are you saying he didn't focus on buying bond investments, stock trading accounts, managed ETF funds, and more in the kids' names? wrote another.

'I understand her son has got money to build a house. The thing is she can help him get one or she can lend him money to get one,' commented another.

'Then people will start complaining that he's a rich man's kid, that he gets what he wants, and that the real world misses him. We don't know her parenting style, she might feel like she worked for the money and the world is not a free ride for her.

Natalie did not comment on the criticism surrounding her comments when she hosted Sunrise as usual on Thursday.
