Agatha All Along Episode 5 Easter eggs and Marvel references

Warning! This episode contains SPOILERS from Agatha All Along Episode 5Agata all the way Episode 5 features an impressive collection of exciting Easter eggs and references, including the first major episode in the MCU. This new test, which covers the third trial of the Witches' Way coven, is all about Agatha (Kathryn Hahn) and her dark past. To that end, the new episode includes some pretty cool references and even an homage to a classic horror movie.

So far, Agatha Harkness's new coven has faced two tests Agata all the wayone designed for Jennifer Hale (Sasheer Zamata) and the other for Alice Wu-Gulliver (Ali Ahn). Now Agatha Harkness is forced to commune with the dead as the Salem Seven close in, making their way to Witch Road. As such, here are the biggest Easter eggs and discoveries in Agata all the way episode 5

Classic comic book powers

He was teased in earlier episodes, The Salem Seven are initially shown as various animals on Witches Road before transforming into witches dressed all in black. This includes a fox, crow, snake and more. To this end, the ability to shapeshift and transform into various creatures was an established power of the Salem Seven in the original Marvel Comics.

13 Witch's broom

Witches Broom Spell

As Salem Seven approaches from all sides, The teenager suggests “hexenbesen”, which turns out to be a witches' broom spell, allowing the coven to temporarily fly over the Witch Road. The term “hexenbesen” is an old German word meaning “witch's broom” and it is amusing to see how the coven resists banal practices and how it was “taken over by a holiday industrial complex” by Lilia with Patti LuPone. That said, it's a truly haunting shot of the coven flying in front of a blood moon, reminiscent of classic witchy media like Disney Hocus Pocus.

Rio Let it go

Unfortunately, the broomstick flight only lasts so long before the Witch Way forces the coven to retreat. Although this results in a lot of screaming, Rio at Aubrey Plaza gives the classic witch cacklereally enjoying the thrill of everyone falling to the ground. Apparently, Rio is not afraid of death (which likely points to Rio's much theorized true identity as Marvel's Lady Death herself).

Running into the cabin and starting another trial before Salem Seven reaches them, Agatha and her coven undergo a transformation once again, just as they did in previous episodes of the series Agata all the way. This time, however, the atmosphere is full of “summer camp horror”. Not only are there plenty of scrunchies and headbands, but Zamata's Jennifer Kale even has a retainer to fully complete the aesthetic.

10 The teenager summons Wiccan Billy Kaplan

Red shirt, blue armband

The new clothes for Joe Locke's 'Teen' are particularly interesting and noteworthy, as they were when sequences from this episode first appeared in the film's trailers Agata all the way. Wearing a red shirt and blue headband, the resemblance and color match to Marvel Comics' Wiccan Billy Kaplan is easy to see and was most likely intentional. She also bonds with young Billy Maximoff WandaVision who wore similar colors and a headband as his Halloween costume. As such, it is unclear whether “Teen” is likely the reincarnated son of the Scarlet Witch.

9 Mrs. Hart

Decent impression

IN Agata all the way episode 5, the coven uses a Ouija board so that Agatha can communicate with the dead during the coven's third attempt. However, Harkness initially pretends to be possessed by the spirit of the last Mrs. Hart Agata all the way episode 5. While the impression isn't a bad one, it is quite dismissive considering the fact that Mrs. Hart aka Sharon Davis recently died earlier in the Road as seen in Agata all the way episode 3

8 “Death is with us”

She really is…

Using a Ouija board in real life, before the Sabbath, the name “Death” appears and the order to punish Agatha. Interestingly, it's more than likely that Death herself was actually with the coven, assuming the theories are correct and that Aubrey Plaza's Rio Vidal is in fact Lady Death herself. There were certainly enough hints and hints throughout the episodes Agata all the way so far to suggest so much.

7 A tribute to the MCU exorcist

Agatha becomes possessed

Shortly after using the Ouija board and the coven debating whether or not Agatha should be punished, Harkness herself becomes possessed by a rogue spirit. To that end, her possession looks eerily similar to the possession seen in Exorcist cinema. The makeup is very similar, as is the way she moves and crawls around the cabin trying to kill the other witches.

6 Ghosts in the MCU

Evanora Harkness

Eventually, it turns out that Agatha has been possessed by the spirit of her own mother, Evanora Harkness. As seen in WandaVision In flashback sequences, Agatha killed her mother and the other witches in her original coven, stealing all their power for herself. Now it turns out that Evanora's ghost has not finished her business and wants revenge on her daughter. Similarly, this appears to be the first appearance of ghosts in the MCU.

5 “I Can Be Good”

Not wanting her new coven to leave her with her mother's ghost, You can hear Agatha telling this to the witches “she might be good” before Evanora possesses her again. This is the same phrase Agatha used to convince her old imposter not to kill her before he kills them all and steals their power. As such, it's a very dark point of symmetry between the covens, especially considering how the episode ends with at least Alice dying (if not more).

4 Santa Claus Scratch

From beyond the grave

The teenager realizes that the spirit of Agata's deceased son is also present in the house Agata all the way episode 5 This confirms that the MCU's Nicholas Scratch is indeed deadinstead of being an agent of Mephisto as speculated Agata all the way episode 3. Moreover, it also confirms that Teen himself is not Agatha's son, as was initially suspected.

3 “So much like your mother.”

Billy Maximoff confirmed?

After draining Alice's powers as she tried to end her possession, Harkness shockingly kills the protective witch at the end Agata all the way episode 5 as if she killed her old coven and her mother. The teenager in particular confronts Agatha at the end of the episode, telling her that if being a witch means killing people for their own purposes, then he doesn't want to be one. Agata replies that he is very much like his motherteasing that Agatha has always known who she is, while supporting the idea that Teen is actually the Scarlet Witch's son.

2 Teenager's crown

A Very Scarlet Witch/Wiccan

In a nutshell, Teen presents its own glowing blue magic. Taking possession of both Lilia and Jennifer, Teen throws Agatha off the Witches' Path into the mud, before pushing the other two witches off the Path as well. In addition, Agata all the way episode 5 ends with Teen wearing her own crown, which closely resembles the Scarlet Witch's tiara. As such, it certainly seems that way Agata all the way finally confirmed that Teen is indeed Billy Kaplan's Wiccan, the reincarnated son of the Scarlet Witch.

1 “You should see me in a crown” – Billie Eilish

Perfect microphone drop

The last shot Agata all the way episode 5 shows a teenager wearing a crown. As such, the episode ends with the epic song featured in the end credits, “You Should See Me In A Crown” by Billie Eilish. It really is a perfect song considering the recent reveal of the episode with Teen and his more than likely role as Wiccan, crown and all.
