Republican Party presidential candidate Donald Trump told Fox News earlier this year that he wants Hogan to win the Senate race. And when asked if he supported Hogan, Trump responded: “Of course I would, yes.”
But Hogan indicated he was not interested in the former president's endorsement, saying during an interview on WTOP, “I didn't ask for it, I didn't want it, and I have no interest in it.”
Hogan never voted for Trump and says he won't vote for Trump in 2024 In 2016, Hogan wrote to his father, Larry Hogan Sr., and in 2020, he wrote to the late President Ronald Reagan.

Hogan said that as a senator, he would support legislation to codify Roe v. Wade. Wade in law. Roe was Abolished by the Supreme Court in 2022.
He has also indicated that he will not support confirming Supreme Court nominees who fail to gain bipartisan support.
“Today, I promised Maryland that as a Senator I will only vote for nominees who can gain support from both sides of the aisle,” the moderate Republican noted in a recent post on X. “If there is one place we should not politicize, it is the Supreme Court and cabinet appointments that undermine our most sacred institutions – the Senate, I will not play along.”

Maryland always goes Democrat during presidential elections. The last Republican to win a state in a presidential race was George HW Bush, who won Maryland in 1988.
The trend looks set to continue into 2024.
When asked who they would vote for “if the election were held today,” 57% of Maryland voters were likely to choose Harris and just 35% chose Trump, according to the poll.
“There is a 95 percent chance that survey results of the true population distribution for a given survey question will have the following percentage point sampling error,” the survey notes, listing a margin of sampling error of +/ – 3.3% for a sample of 863 likely Maryland voters.
