Charlie's Angels star Jacqueline Smith, 78, reveals she was 'in competition' with Farrah Fawcett and Kate Jackson

Jacqueline Smith describes what her Charlie's Angels costars Farrah Fawcett and Kate Jackson really like to work on.

The 78-year-old told People Wednesday there was no drama. And they never had cat fights.

'The girls were having fun. We were like college roommates. Independent women make our way,' said the fashion designer.

'There was a camaraderie of shared history,' he added.

'We crossed that bridge and it changed our lives. There was no way to walk into the grocery store anonymously, so the three of us had a special bond.

Smith says women have never been competitive.

'We are not [going]”I want this view, I want that,” she also shared.
Farrah died at the age of 62 on June 25, 2009 after a long, painful battle. Cancer. Smith is still close to Jackson.

And Jaclyn loved Farrah like a sister.

“She's a true sweetheart,” Smith told PEOPLE. 'Not a competitive girlfriend, she wishes everyone well.'

The perfumer added: 'She first met me after I had my first child. I could see her happiness because she knew it was my dream – to have children – and a dream come true.

Smith continues: 'But she was also funny. She would say, 'Look – your fingers aren't fat anymore. Now you don't have to wear diaper rings around them!”

Jacqueline will co-chair the Farrah Fawcett Foundation's annual gala on October 24, 2024 in Dallas, Texas.

The series aired from 1976 to 1981. 'It was fun girls. We were like college roommates. Independent women make our way,' said the fashion designer

On the 15th anniversary of Farah's death, friends paid tribute on social media.

Farrah's best friend Alana Stewart, who is married to rocker Rod Stewart, shared old photos of Farrah on Instagram with a touching note.

'Remembering Farah… 15 years to the day since her passing with some well-known photos and some not so familiar. Rip is my sweet sister. I think of you everyday. #iconic,' wrote Melanie Griffith hit the like button.

Smith shared an old clip from their hit TV show.

Smith told People in 2019 that he last saw his friend of 40 years.

'She was in pain and couldn't stay still,' said the brunette beauty. 'I rubbed her legs and tried to make her feel better. It relaxed her. We must have talked for three hours about our lives, our kids, growing up in Texas. Ultimately the time I spent with Farrah was the best because we appreciated the friendship.

Smith also said Farrah was relentless in her fight.

Fawcett filmed his cancer battle for a documentary, showing off his bald head after chemo and radiation. She burst into tears as she heard the tumors return to her liver.

'Who would have dreamed that this woman known for her smile, hair and glamor would share the depths of her soul with the world?' Smith told People.

Hailing from Texas, Lee Majors and married Ryan O'Neill, who died in December 2023, had a long relationship. Farrah started the Fawcett Foundation to raise funds for research and education.

When Farrah first told Jaclyn she had cancer, she said the diagnosis shocked her.

“I always thought I'd get breast cancer or heart disease, but never this,” she said, and she started to cry, Smith said. I never saw her cry after that.

“She was in pain and couldn't stay calm,” Smith said. 'I rubbed her legs and tried to make her feel better. It relaxed her. We must have talked for three hours about our lives, about our kids, about growing up in Texas. Farah in 2004

And their friendship was genuine: 'What I remember about Farrah is that she's an eight-out-of-10 glossy, the friend who cheered me on, the girl who loved her parents, the girl down the street.

'We shared life's ups and downs, joys and sorrows together. I miss her everyday. So many people are gone now, it's hard. I miss them and it's okay to miss them.'

Smith also touched on the years he co-created Charlie's Angels with Fawcett.

She said the two, as well as co-star Kate Jackson, had 'each other's backs' on set.

“It was like a college dorm, eating together in our trailers,” Jaclyn said.

'Sometimes we buy what we're going to wear on the weekends. We were not only working actresses but also friends, and that has been the case for 40 years.

Most people think that Farrah was on Charlie's Angels for all five years, but she actually left the series after season one to pursue dramatic work.

In 1976 Fawcett appeared in the sci-fi cult series Logan's Run alongside Michael York and Jenny Agutter.

“When Farrah decided to leave after one season, we all supported her,” Smith said.

She's not afraid to say, 'This is what I'm going to do.' Farrah wanted to be seen as a serious actress. She marches to her own drum. And once she was accepted as an actress, she went back to Playboy and posed at 50. From serious actress to sex symbol again. There was never a dull moment.'

Smith admits that the show made them all.

'It changed our lives. We were like rock stars. When we went to Hawaii for the season opener, we had guards around the clock. We all did our thing, but the power of Charlie's Angels – it helped define who we were and where we went.
