Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is still soaking in all the praise from fans and critics alike, some fans gave complained about some of the game’s customisation options. While many players’ complaints about Chaos customisation are due to lore restrictions, the game’s capes have become a sore topic as they often cover up the game’s awesome-looking armor.

Fans have been fairly critical of the game, with many not enjoying how the Ping system works. Even with all that, this violent space shooter is ridiculously popular right now, even converting new players who weren’t originally interested in Warhammer lore.

Space Marine 2 needs more variety in capes

Users on the Space Marine 2 subreddit have expressed frustration with how the game’s capes completely cover your armor’s shoulder pads. The original post shows some alternate cape looks you can have in the game, most of which cover the shoulder pads or partially block them from you. Players are miffed that a piece of cloth is blocking their sick shoulder pads.

Some fans have said that these capes would be less annoying if the game let you customize their colors. “I only use the default one without pauldron coverings,” a fan commented. “They also need to make it so you can choose the color of your cape.” Fans are also annoyed that Deathwatch pauldrons clip through the capes, turning the look into an eyesore. “The Deathwatch pauldron clips through all cloaks, so yeah there’s only one customization option that remotely looks decent,” one player chimed.

Because this game is focused on multiplayer, we can expect even more cosmetics in future updates. Only time will tell if these new skins will acknowledge the players who want to show off the franchise’s signature shoulder pads. At the least, being able to change the color or size of your cape would give fans more control over this piece of gear.

Not looking sharp

Another reason why Space Marine 2 fans are annoyed with the capes is that there aren’t a ton of unique cosmetics for the game’s snipers. It’s bad enough that this supposedly stealthy class still has to wear a ton of armor like their fellow soldiers, but these capes don’t help them stand out, even if they stick to the shadows.

“I hate that the only sniper look I like is the heretic sniper look, for some reason imperium cant afford a helmet and hood at the same time,” one commenter said. “Snipers have the weakest cosmetics. Hands down,” wrote another.

Despite all this, fans enjoy the game, as it’s content-rich for online multiplayer. The single-player isn’t bad either, giving fans a compelling tale with plenty of gory combat. With a DLC story potentially coming, it’s safe to say that this Warhammer title won’t be boring anyone anytime soon.
