The Xbox Series S is more popular than the Xbox Series X, internal data from Microsoft has shown.

According to a redacted document leaked by the FTC, as spotted by IGN, 74.8% of Xbox Series owners have the Series S, while 25.1% own the Series X.

The consumer data was found in a document showcasing Xbox’s results for April 2022. It’s unclear whether these numbers are sourced from monthly, quarterly, or yearly results, but the data could be one of the reasons why Microsoft is reportedly looking to drop the disc drive from its Xbox Series X refresh due next year.

Microsoft is also planning a refresh of the Series S, providing 1TB storage with faster wifi and reduced power for the same price as the current base model.

This revelation is one of many pieces of information to come out of the Xbox leaks, which you can catch up on as more details emerge in our roundup.

While the Series S is less powerful, it’s the most affordable of the current Xbox consoles. The base model costs $299 and the 1TB edition retails at $349.99, whereas the Series X costs $499 and includes a disc drive, increased processing power, and higher resolution.
