The 200-meter-long bridge crosses the Tagus River and was built for 74 million euros in October 2011
The bridge is a cable-stayed bridge with 152 steel cables that opened on October 17, 2011 and cost almost 74 million euros to build.
When it was built, it was widely considered a waste of money by local and national media, and because it carried little traffic, it was often called the “bridge to nowhere”.
A year ago, local police reported that two young bloggers had climbed to the peak without any protection and then posted the videos on their social media.
In 2016, two youths were reported to have performed the same stunt. It is not known how high up the structure the Briton was when he fell.
