TOP O’ THE MORNIN’

After Three Nights of the DNC, the Question Remains: Where Is Kamala’s Father, Donald Harris?

One fully understands wanting to avoid the media spotlight and to steer clear of the circus of politics. But the fact that Donald Harris is never mentioned and hasn’t even made an appearance (even via video) at the DNC is troubling.

Actor Jon Voight Talks to RedState About ‘Reagan’ Movie and Issues a Dire Warning

We have to continue to speak out against the threat, and Jon Voight deserves a tremendous amount of credit for being one of the few Hollywood heavyweights who isn’t afraid to fight for what’s right.

Donald Trump Lays Into Kamala Harris in Truth Social, Play-by-Play Response

Donald Trump can think on his feet. He can react and answer unscripted questions, and react to unscripted talking points, quickly, smoothly, and accurately. Kamala Harris can do none of those things.

WHAT’S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill…

Friday. Summer. Post-DNC glow. Should be a quiet day on the Hill. That’s good — it afforded Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) the opportunity to celebrate his 70th wedding anniversary with his wife. Rep. Colin Allred (D-TX), who’s challenging Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) for his Senate seat, took the stage at the DNC Thursday night. No knock on Allred, but I…don’t think Cruz is in peril.

White House What’s Up

More vacation in Cali for President Joe Biden. Good thing nothing big’s going on in the world right now. Speaking of which, I don’t think this bit from Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (MI) Thursday night was quite the flex she intended it to be…

The Homestretch

Fresh off the DNC, Vice President Kamala Harris will return to Washington, D.C., Friday — maybe since Joe’s out West, she’ll take the opportunity to start doing all the things she promises to do on Day 1 of her presidency?

Former President Donald Trump will continue with the second day of his eventful Southwest jaunt, with an event in Glendale, Arizona — which promises to include a “special guest” — before he heads to Las Vegas.

MORNING MUSING

Alright, so we survived — four full days of DNCing. I’m about all cringed out. As for Comma-La, I thought she did what she needed to do. She delivered a speech — largely written by someone else — decently, if with a bit of an odd cadence/pacing. (I gave it a B.) There were even a couple of moments where hints of authenticity shined through, primarily when speaking of her mother.

The rest of the time, while she didn’t fumble and creak her way through it as he undoubtedly would have, she delivered a speech that could have just as easily been delivered by Joe Biden — or whomever the DNC opted to trot out as their new champion. Lots of lies about Republicans and their plans. Lots of lofty promises of all the things she’ll do as president — glossing over the fact that she has been in position for the past three-and-a-half years as vice president, to have been doing those very things, yet somehow has managed to accomplish nothing. Is she saying Joe doesn’t share that agenda? That he’s just been standing in her way?

In either case, she did enough to satisfy the party faithful. Will it be enough to sway the swing-state fence-sitters?

LIGHTER FARE

Y’all get a Friday twofer. First — this amazing shot of Mother Nature in all her glory:

And second — a jet-skiing baby cow. Because who doesn’t need that in their life?
