Vampire: The Masquerade – Shadows of New York launches on mobile devices

Speak to an RPG fan who owned a computer in the early 2000s and they will no doubt start talking about Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines. I know, because I do it too. It was a superb game that all but launched the World of Darkness game series on its own, and now you can play the latest instalment with Vampire: The Masquerade – Shadows of New York now available for iOS and Android.

The story will take you to the world behind the sleepless city of the Big Apple, as you step into the shoes of a Kindred, a vampire, and part of the Lasombra clan. You will leave your mark on the endless political struggles of the Camarilla, and if you are brave enough, you can take the fight to the Ventrue Prince themselves.

Shadows of New York is a continuation of the story that started in Coteries of New York, which is also available on mobile if you want to go in with the full picture. No problem if you are only looking for one dose of Vampiric goodness though, it is not required reading for Shadow of New York.

You will experience a story full of personal conflict, some horror, what it means to be undead, and all the struggles that come with adhering to the Masquerade’s rules. Given your new situation, you will no longer be able to stay neutral, so it is up to you what choices you will make, with certain decisions altering your path.

As you explore the streets of Manhattan in search of fresh blood you will be able to meet and bond with the city’s inhabitants, and perhaps strike up a rapport with them. Sure, it might be a ruse so you can feast on them later, but the conversation is nice. There are a host of little stories to encounter, as long as you remember to never break the Masquerade.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Shadows of New York is available to download from the App Store and Google Play for $4.99.
