Paizo Inc. has announced a Starfinder Second Edition Playtest Bundle. This sci-fi TTRPG’s latest edition has entered its playtest phase and needs crucial player feedback to make it as great as possible. If you’re not familiar with Starfinder, the bundle’s also provides a substantive primer.
The Starfinder Second Edition Playtest Bundle announcement
According to the campaign page, the Starfinder Second Edition Playtest Bundle contains PDFs and digital resources for Starfinder. Among these resources are PDFs for the core rules and character creation resources for the Starfinder Second Edition Playtest alongside two prewritten playtest scenarios.
For those not familiar with Starfinder, the bundle also contains resources from Starfinder First Edition. Everything from core rules to sourcebooks, prewritten adventures, and battlemaps are included in this bundle in both PDF format and as resources for the browser-based character creation tool Hero Lab Online.
There are four different levels in the Starfinder Second Edition Playtest Bundle. They are as follows:
- The 8 Item Bundle for $5: The Starfinder Second Edition Playtest Rulebook PDF, The “Shards of the Glass Planet” and “It Came From The Vast!” playtest scenario PDFs, the Jungle World and Living Starship Battlemap packs in PDF, the Starfinder Field Test #5 playtest, the Second Contact playtest supplement PDF, and HeroLab Online access to Playtest Character Creation and Vault Content.
- The 35 Item Bundle for $15: Everything above, the Starfinder First Edition Beginner Box PDF, PDF copies of the Starfinder First Edition Core Rulebook, Alien Archives 1-4, and Pact Worlds supplement. The Starfinder Society Scenarios A Time of Crisis, Drift Scars, Ghost Level Delve, Planar Bloom, and Fragment of the 4th, the Alien Planet, Space Colony, Drift Crisis, Space Station, Crashed Starship, Desert World, and Forest Moon battlemaps, and HeroLab Online access for Starfinder Core Rulebook, Alien Archive 1-4, and Pact Worlds supplement.
- The 51 Item Bundle for $30: Everything above, PDF copies of the Drift Crisis, Ports of Call, and Near Space Starfinder Sourcebooks. The Drift Hackers Adventure Path and Player Guide. The Drift Crashers Adventure Path. The Drift Crisis Files Adventure. and HeroLab Online access to the Drift Crisis, Ports of Call, and Near Space.
- The 52 Item Bundle for $40: Everything above, and a physical copy of Drift Crisis sourcebook.
A portion of proceeds from the Starfinder Second Edition Playtest Bundle will go to support Girls Who Code. A nonprofit organization founded in 2012 dedicated to encouraging women to complete college-level computer science education and help them employability skills in the field. The bundle will be available until August 21.
The announcement of this bundle coincides with the United Paizo Workers Union winning the 2024 Diana Jones award for excellence in gaming. This is pivotal in the industry since it recognizes the importance and impact of the first tabletop game developer union.
