Video of Trump Assassination Attempt Emerges Showing Terrified Crowd Running As Shots Ring Out – RedState

Fox News aired new video Tuesday evening of the horrific assassination attempt against Donald Trump on July 13 during a Pennsylvania campaign rally. The former president was hit in the ear, former fire chief Corey Comperatore was tragically killed, and two other men were wounded.

In the video, which runs one minute and twenty-five seconds, a witness in the crowd named Jon Malis was somehow able to keep his wits about him and keep filming even as he realized there was a shooter perched on a rooftop. Eight shots ring out from the attempted assassin, then two more from law enforcement, including the shot that took him out. That kill shot was reportedly fired by a Secret Service sniper.

You can almost feel the fear from the terrified, screaming crowd as the chaos ensued:

In the aftermath, all eyes turned to the Secret Service and the colossal failures that allowed this to happen. Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned Tuesday after getting mercilessly grilled on Capitol Hill.

The cellphone cameraman, Malis, explained what he saw:

Definitely wasn’t secure. I’m actually ex-military. One of the first things I noticed when we walked up, I’m like, we… None of us have been vetted. We’re all along the fence. We all have a view of the stage. We could see Trump.

His remarks come at the 1:18 mark of the clip below:

It wasn’t the only video released Tuesday. As my colleague Susie Moore reported, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) posted dramatic newly obtained footage showing law enforcement on the assassin’s rooftop location talking about what had just occurred. His body is in the background.

The failure to protect the former president and current GOP nominee has brought up so many questions: why was the shooter able to get off eight shots despite the fact that he’d been identified as a suspicious threat by multiple people in the audience and by security personnel? Since a threat had been identified, why was Trump allowed to go on stage?

NEW INTERVIEW: Trump Says He Was Not Warned Before Taking the Stage Despite Obvious Security Concerns

How will we improve cooperation with local law enforcement going forward? There have been several reports that the Secret Service and local police were unable to properly coordinate because they were using different communication platforms. And why was the Trump team denied the increase in resources that they’d been requesting for over two years?

Cheatle’s resignation will not magically solve all these issues. What is needed is a president who will appoint a new director based on skill, experience, and merit alone; no other criteria about how they identify should be considered. It’s yet another reason we need to keep newly minted candidate Kamala Harris out of office because it’s doubtful she would keep only those considerations in mind.
