Stephen Colbert gets through ‘borrifying’ RNC night 3 with bonafide whimsy

It’s the third day of the 2024 Republican National Convention and like his late night show contemporaries, Stephen Colbert has been recapping the major moments all week.

And by said third day, the Late Show host needed a little pizzazz, a little oomph, a little zing for his monologue.

“I have been watching for three straight nights and I have discovered that politicians can be both horrifying and boring at the same time. It’s called ‘borrifying’ and the only thing that helps is massive doses of whimsy,” Colbert began the show on Wednesday night.

Cue the handheld bubble machine and Louis Cato and The Late Show Band playing some jaunty music.

“Each one of these tiny bursting bubbles represents a tiny piece of my soul,” Colbert added.
