Nintendo emulator Delta adds iPad support in its latest update

  • Delta version 1.6 is now live on both the App Store and AltStore PAL
  • Delta supports NES, SNES, N64, and DS games but does not include support for Switch games

The Nintendo emulator Delta now has iPad support in its latest version 1.6 update, which allows users to run the Delta game emulator on an iPad.

This new update introduces an optimised version for iPad with a feature that lets users switch between iPhone and iPad.

It also includes improvements to DS compatibility, new skins, menu button gestures and a new permanent logo after Adobe threatened legal action due to similarities with their Photoshop logo.

New features, more support

Delta supports NES, SNES, N64, and DS games but does not include support for Switch games, likely due to Nintendo’s aggressive actions against Switch emulators.

Recent DMCA filings by Nintendo emphasise their stance against such emulation, hinting that a future Switch successor might prioritise full backwards compatibility.

Delta version 1.6 is now live on both the App Store and AltStore PAL, fulfilling developer Riley Testut’s promise of iPad support with full-screen play and Split View capabilities.

Testut took to Threads to warn that, “This update is incompatible with existing DS save states. Please save normally in-game before updating to avoid losing progress.”
