Frostpunk 2 Delayed to September Following Beta Feedback

11 bit studios has announced a Frostpunk 2 delay, with the chilly city-builder now set to arrive in September to give the devs time to respond to user feedback collected during the recent beta period.

In an announcement on Steam, Frostpunk 2 directors Jakub Stokalski and Łukasz Juszczyk say that the user feedback from the game’s beta contained “many keen observations on areas we could improve or add to the final game”.

The pair say that in order to do justice to the information gleaned from the beta, more development time is needed, which is why the new Frostpunk 2 release date is September 20th, representing a delay of about two months.

Frostpunk 2 needs a little more time to cook (or should that be thaw?).

To placate disappointed fans, 11 bit goes into some detail regarding what’s changed and what will be included in the game owing to the extra development time.

Several game mechanics have been tweaked to ensure a smoother Frostpunk 2 experience, including temperature and heat, workforce management, and the addition of a brand new resource, plus more.

The game’s UI and UX have been enhanced in an “extensive” fashion; it’ll now have a clearer HUD, a new construction menu, and more clarity and readability when it comes to the Idea Tree.

Another new enhancement, Zoom Stories, allows you to zoom in on your citizens and follow their individual lives, seeing what they’re up to so that you can feel more connected to the lives of those who live in your city.

Lots of new features will be added to Frostpunk 2 as a result of the additional development time.

Frostpunk 2 is the followup to 11 bit’s popular 2018 city-builder Frostpunk.

Like its predecessor, Frostpunk 2 will task you with building and maintaining a settlement in the midst of a harsh post-apocalyptic winter. You’ll have to scavenge for supplies, manage resources and citizens, and make difficult moral decisions that will have a lasting impact on your city.

You’ll be able to check out Frostpunk 2 when it arrives on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on September 20th. While you wait, you can check out our preview of the game here, and we’ve also got a juicy interview with one of the game’s directors if you want to get into the nitty-gritty.
