7 Star Sceptile guide for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

The 7 Star Sceptile Tera Raid Battle event for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is live now, and we have a guide for it ready to go. For this event, Sceptile is running Tera Dragon, which means it’s only weak to Dragon, Ice, and Fairy-type moves. The first wave of the event lasts until June 30, but it comes back for a second wave from July 5 to July 7. We’ve come up with a few counters you can bring to the battle here!

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet 7 Star Sceptile Guide

Like we mentioned earlier, this is a Tera Dragon 7 Star Sceptile, so it’s weak to Dragon, Ice, and Fairy. It uses Leaf Storm, Dragon Dance, Thunder Punch, Breaking Swipe, Leaf Blade, and Earthquake, meaning it’s mostly a physical attacker. That said, it does use Leaf Storm at the beginning of the battle, which sort of necessitates a Grass resistance or immunity in some way.

One particularly great counter here is Tera Fairy Magearna, if you happen to have it. Iron Defense, Shift Gear, Play Rough, and either Tera Blast or Stored Power work great against Sceptile, as it can only use Earthquake once when roughly 30% of its HP remains. You could run EVs in HP and Attack and use a Shell Bell or Covert Cloak for your item. Glastrier, a Pokemon who can be caught in Scarlet and Violet, can run Swords Dance, Iron Defense, Icicle Crash, and Tera Ice Tera Blast (since it’s more accurate than Icicle Crash when Terastallized). You can then use a Shell Bell for its item so that it heals every time it deals damage. Light Clay max HP and Defense Abomasnow with Aurora Veil works great as a support teammate, especially since snow boosts Glastrier’s physical defense to astronomical levels. It can also use Swords Dance and Ice Punch on its own, if it has to. 7 Star Sceptile deals lots of damage, so defenses are important.

Zacian in its Crowned form works here too, but it has its share of weaknesses. For one, it can’t hold a Shell Bell – it’s forced to hold a Rusted Sword. It can use Swords Dance and Play Rough to deal high damage, but it can’t boost its defenses and will often be worn down before it can take out the shield. If it has a teammate with Reflect, however, it does become a little bit easier. Galarian Weezing with Acid Spray, Strange Steam, and Clear Smog is another potential option, along with Unaware Clefable with Moonblast, Reflect, Life Dew, a Light Clay item, and Chilling Water. Lots of options here, and it becomes much easier if you have a friend helping you beat 7 Star Sceptile. We managed to clear the raid with Zacian plus Clefable with both of the movesets we listed here.
