Creatures of Ava Wants You to Save Its Many Adorable Animals in August

11 bit studios and developer Inverge have announced the Creatures of Ava release date, and the adorable-looking creature-saving action-adventure game (that’s a lot of hyphens) is launching very soon.

Creatures of Ava is arriving on August 7th across PC and Xbox Series X|S, and if you’ve ever wished that creature-collecting games focused a little less on “collection” and a little more on actually helping the species in question, this one’s for you.

11 bit and Inverge’s game takes place on the titular planet of Ava, which an infection known only as The Withering is slowly destroying. It doesn’t take a genius to spot the ecological parallels of this one, but that doesn’t make them any less timely.

Creatures of Ava wants you to help save its many adorable species of animal.

Perhaps somewhat surprisingly, the game is not a life sim, nor is it an open-world survival-crafter. Rather, it’s an action-adventure game with an intriguing-sounding “non-violent combat system”.

It’ll offer four distinct biomes to explore, each with different creatures to discover and save. Said creatures range from dinosaur-like bipeds through to flying creatures reminiscent of mosquitoes, and plenty more besides.

Some of the creatures may look more dangerous or intimidating than others, but this isn’t a game where you’ll have to worry about getting blindsided by a giant stegosaurus, so don’t worry.

You can check out a short but rather adorable trailer showing off a few of Creatures of Ava‘s, well, creatures right here.

As well as the creatures themselves, you’ll also meet with the Naam, a tribe of Ava’s inhabitants who have their own unique customs to learn.

Those inhabitants will teach you melodies on the flute that you can use to pacify and tame some of Ava’s wilder creatures. As you can tell, this one’s all about working in harmony with nature rather than against it.

Creatures of Ava arrives on PC and Xbox Series X|S on August 7th, and it’s also coming to Game Pass on day one. Give it a look if you want to bring out your inner animal lover.
