Conscript is a New Retro-Inspired WW1 Survival Horror Game, Coming This Year

Whether or not any AAA survival horror game in today’s day and age will be able to enjoy the sort of success that Resident Evil has seen remains to be seen, but the genre’s successes are far better distributed in the indie space, and more new games continue to throw their hats in the ring. Another one of those has now been announced.

Titled Conscript, developed by Catchweight Studio, and published by Team17, it is billed as a retro survival horror game inspired by the classics, promising old-school mechanics, an intense and atmospheric World War 1 setting, and pixel-art visuals that fans of 2022 indie survival horror game Signalis will find familiar.

Players will play as a French soldier who sets out to look for his missing brother and finds himself caught in the horrors of the Battle of Verdun, one of the First World War’s most brutal battles. Check out the game’s announcement trailer below.

Conscript will launch sometime this year for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. A demo of the game will launch for Steam on June 10.
