Re: It’s service that matters; If public workers can do their jobs at home, then by all means, let them, column, May 14

I agree with Bruce Deachman: Let the public servants work from home if they so choose. Obviously, from an employee standpoint, they love doing so and I would venture to say that production is even up in many cases.

Look at the savings in transportation costs, child care and incidentals. This is the high-tech digital age; the era of big office towers and terrible cubicles is coming to a close.

Deachman is right, Ottawa cannot rely on government workers to help pay its property taxes any longer. Happy workers are productive workers.

RESEARCH FIRST

One of the very few great moments in life is when you become a senior citizen. It’s the time you can say just about anything and you’re immediately dismissed with a, “What do you know? You’re just an angry old man!”

Well, what I do know is when I’m asked for my opinion, if I’m not well versed on the topic, I’ll do some research before opening my mouth. It’s something lost on today’s youth, particularly those at the university level. Do some research; then, and only then, if you feel it’s warranted, by all means back the Palestinians — and by extension terrorist groups. But, remember, you’re actually giving your approval to the slaughter of men, women and children on both sides.

Perhaps you might want to do something more beneficial to the cause than playing camp-out on Laurier Avenue. What’s the angry old white guy say? “Hypocrites!”

ELECTION YESTERDAY, PLEASE

Canada is the second-largest country in the world and we produce a meagre 1.5 per cent of the world’s greenhouse-gas emissions. Considering those two facts, what kind of a fool would devastate our economy and, thus, make it difficult to make ends meet for millions of people with a carbon tax?

We need an election yesterday, before the inept federal Liberals can inflict even more damage on our country with their unachievable green dreams and apparent desire to undermine our Canadian culture in every way possible.
