Ginny made her way to the church in Sorbet Kingdom, where she called the Revolutionary Army. As soon as Kuma heard about Ginny, he immediately used his Devil Fruit to travel to her location. By the time he reached there, it was already too late. So, the responsibility to raise Bonney fell on the shoulders of Kuma.
After he learned that she was infected with the Sapphire Scale Disease, he made it his life’s goal to find a cure for Bonney. His extensive search led him to Dr. Vegapunk. The scientist had the resources to save Bonney, but Saturn stated multiple conditions that needed to be fulfilled before the operation could commence. Kuma happily accepted, but it led to his separation from Bonney. After Bonney escaped from the Sorbet Kingdom, she traveled a lot before she finally got a chance to learn the truth about Kuma’s transformation into a cyborg.
