Granblue Fantasy: Relink – How to Play Id (& Best Id Build)

Although Id isn’t unlocked until later in the Granblue Fantasy: Relink journey, he’s one of the best damage dealers on the roster, capable of overwhelming enemies with his unique transformation mechanic and hard-hitting combos. Most of Id’s damage output comes in the form of landed combos, meaning players will need to understand the best times to dodge and block against opponents to ensure they can maximize their damage effectively. Thankfully, players will become accustomed to a variety of Granblue Fantasy: Relink‘s bosses before having the ability to use Id on their team.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink – How to Play Narmaya (& Best Narmaya Build)

Overwhelm your enemies with speed and ferocity as Narmaya, Granblue Fantasy: Relink’s resident older sister.

Those who can master Id’s dragon transformation, and understand his Almighty Form transformation as they unlock more of his Mastery Tree, will reward themselves with a punishing DPS character capable of snagging MVP over a variety of other characters thanks to his impressive damage output.

GranblueRelinkIdPower

Although Id has some useful skills, the majority of his damage output lies in his combo mechanic. By chaining together light attacks and ending them with heavy combo finishers, players will build charge inside his Versalis Guage. Once the gauge fills up completely, Id will summon the power of Bahamut Versa and enter Dragonform which gives him access to harder-hitting attacks and faster combos. Inside Dragonform, Id can channel up to four complete combo attacks before the form itself ends and he’s forced to transform back. For the bulk of the early game, rotating between these two forms is where most of Id’s damage output lies. As players max out their Mastery Tree, they will unlock access to Id’s Godmight Mastery, which gives him an additional buff whenever he exits his Dragonform. During Godmight, Id’s sword will glow and his attacks will be enhanced further. During this buff, he also gains access to a different Skybound Art that deals even more damage than his standard.

The key to playing Id effectively and maximizing his damage output is landing combo finishers. Because of this, players need to know how bosses operate, as well as when to dodge and block attacks. Overall, Id isn’t a very complicated character but will reward players who know how to land combos quickly and effectively, as well as those who are capable of timing his Dragonform transformations around boss attacks and Overdrive phases.

Basic Id Combo

GranblueRelinkIdSlash

Id had access to two basic combos that will increase charge to his Versalis Guage. The first is a simply four hit light combo, that finishes with a heavy attack called Sword Flurry and Combo Finisher. To activate, players need to input the following chain:

  • Attack → Attack → Attack → Combo Finisher (Light) → Sword Flurry → Combo Finisher (Heavy)

Landing this combo will reward players with a large chunk of Versalis Charge. Id has a second, smaller combo that consists of two attacks, both heavy, and is chargeable. It can also be used as a gap closer.

  • Lunge (Chargable) → Combo Finisher

Landing this combo will reward players with a smaller amount of Versalis Charge than the original combo.

Id’s Dragonform Combos

When transformed into Dragonform, Id gains access to two more combos. Thankfully, players won’t have to worry about chaining these between attack buttons. Both combos are accessed by spamming either Light Attacks or Heavy Attacks.

  • The Light Attack Combo consists of 11 hits overall and finishes with an overhead.
  • The Heavy Attack Combo consists of 9 hits overall and finishes with a laser blast.

Landing either of these combos will add one charge to the outside of the Versalis Guage. After players have accumulated four total charges, they will leave Dragonform.

Best Weapons And Sigils For Id

GranblueRelinkIdSword

Thanks to Id’s reliance on attacks rather than skills, players will want to build him with high Attack and Critical Attack / Damage. In a comedic twist, that makes his best weapon the fried shrimp-shaped sword known as the Premium Sword (don’t worry about the goofy appearance, players can change the skin to whatever they wish while keeping the same stats). This weapon comes with stats geared towards Critical Attack Rate and Critical Damage, allowing players to unlock Mastery Nodes that will further increase these levels as the sword is upgraded to different tiers.

When it comes to Sigils, players will want to target Attack Damage, Critical Rate / Damage, Combo Boosters, and any other applicable attack-based boosters. Here’s a look at some of the best Sigils to put on Id:

  • War ElementalAll standard attacks become the element that a monster is weak to. (This Sigil can only be obtained from Zabtha by trading in Curios in Seedhollow.)
  • Combo BoosterIncreases the damage of each successive hit that comes in a Combo.
  • Combo FinisherIncreases the amount of the end strike of a Combo.
  • Critical DamageIncreases the amount of damage that Critical Hits do.
  • Critical Hit RateIncreases the overall Critical Hit Rate percentage.
  • Damage CapAllows players to go over Damage Cap based on a percentage (the more Damage Caps available, the more players can go over the cap. This is important as Id grows stronger.)
  • Supplementary DamageHas a chance to add additional damage to attacks.
  • TyrannySacrifices health for Attack Power.
  • CascadeHelps decrease cooldowns each time players land an attack.
  • GutsAllows character to survive a Lethal Hit with 1 HP instead (Has a long 10-minute Cooldown).

When targeting Sigils that have multiple stats (attributed by the + symbol on the Sigil name), players should look for things like Guts, Auto Revive, Potion Hoarder, and Stamina.

Every crewmate in Granblue Fantasy: Relink is strong, but some offer more value than others in the early game.

Best Id Skills

GranblueRelinkIdSkills

Id isn’t as Skill-reliant as other characters but he still has some fairly useful skills that can help him deal damage from range, proc his Dragonform immediately, and even slow the enemy to deal more damage and extend combos. Here’s a look at some of the best skills for Id and what they do:

Skill

Description

Notes

Fires a forward projectile.

Deals damage quickly with a ranged projectile. Will fill the Versalis Guage slightly.

Unleashes a frontal shockwave slash.

Good for dealing damage at range when players aren’t able to get close to the enemy. Will fill the Versalis Guage slightly.

Inflicts Slow on foes within a conical zone in front of Id.

Allows players to Slow the enemy, which allows them to inflict more damage via combos. This is especially useful for slowing an enemy in Overdrive to deal more damage to their bar in an attempt to Break them.

Releases Dragon Power to instantly enter Dragonform.

This allows Id to instantly enter his Dragonform for increased damage without the need to fill the Versalis Guage with combos. It’s important to also note that activating this while in Godmight will completely refill the Versalis Guage.

Reginleiv Recidiv and Unbound are solid ranged attacks that allow players to poke at bosses, or quickly eliminate outside threats during a fight. The real bread-and-butter skills come in the form of Ragnarok Form and Arcadia. Players will be able to proc Dragonform whenever they wish by using Ragnarok Form (and can even extend their Godmight if done during this mode). Arcadia is great for slowing enemies, which will help teammates when playing cooperatively and can also allow players to get in extra damage on monsters and bosses before they enter Bloodthirst states.

Players can also activate Ragnarok Mode during the ending animation for Id’s combo during Godmight to refill the gauge completely and get an additional combo in before the mode actually ends.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Best AI Characters

Those playing solo in Granblue Fantasy: Relink will need to make use of the game’s AI characters. Here are the best ones available.

Best Id Team Compositions

IdPartyComp

Id can easily stand out as the primary DPS in any party composition thanks to his hard-hitting attacks and combos. Players should have already amassed quite a few Crewmate Cards by the time they unlock Id as a playable character so they should have an array of unlocked characters to choose from when building a party around the melee-focused DPS. The following recommendations are simply what works well with Id, but it’s important to note that strict party compositions are not a necessity in Granblue Fantasy: Relink. Although some party compositions can be “stronger,” overall, pretty much any combination of characters can work against the bosses found throughout the game thanks to the array of skills awarded to each character. That said, he’s a good party combination that works well with Id’s playstyle.

Character

Description

Cagliostro

Cagliostro stands as one of the best debuff characters in all of Granblue Fantasy: Relink. Her ability to keep the enemy’s Defense permanently down by 30% (when given access to her best personal Sigil) allows Id to stack much higher damage numbers over time. Although Cagliostro must be close to unleash most of her attacks, her debuffing charged attack, Collapse, is ranged and allows her to poke at bosses from safety. She’s also capable of healing in a pinch and reviving fallen allies, making her an ideal support.

Eugen

Eugen can offer additional DPS at range, leaving Id to focus on the frontline DPS while offering his own damage support from distance. Eugen is capable of producing quite a bit of damage at higher levels but needs to be away from the boss/monster to set up his Sniper Mode. Id keeping the Monster’s focus allows Eugen to pump out damage more easily. Eugen is also capable of helping by offering a heal in a pinch or using a Paralyzing bullet to stun enemies. He’s even capable of eliminating buffs from bosses.

Gran / Djeeta

The Captain is one of the best supports in the game and is also capable of dishing out damages if spec’d correctly. With a myriad of buffing, debuffing, and slowing skills, Gran / Djeeta can give Id the support he needs to maximize his damage effectively. They’re capable of operating from both melee and range, making them a perfect and completely adaptable teammate in a variety of team compositions.
