THIS IS HAPPENING IN CANADA?

Re: EXCLUSIVE! LILLEY UNLEASHED: Dr. Jordan Peterson; freedom in Canada is gone, online, Jan. 23

The interview between Brian Lilley and Dr. Jordan Peterson illustrates the pettiness of the disciplinary panel of the College of Psychologists of Ontario threatening to revoke Peterson’s licence. It wouldn’t be so bad if there were any credibility, i.e. if the complaints involved client impropriety; however, that’s not the case.

Peterson has an impeccable reputation as a psychologist and lecturer, and the complainants are nothing more than woke zealots trying to stifle his political views. In essence, the college has determined he must undergo social media retraining of his behaviour based on strangers complaining about comments he made on social media, which had nothing to do with his profession, but everything to do with left-wing liberal policies.

Peterson decided to challenge the decision, but the Court of Appeal for Ontario rejected his attempt to do so. Can this be happening in Canada? What is the point of constitutional rights and freedoms if administrational panels are allowed to decide when and where they apply?

RULING DOESN’T CHANGE OPINION

Re: Move ‘not justified’; Federal use of the Emergencies Act unreasonable, judge rules, Jan. 24

The court’s ruling doesn’t change my opinion of the unnecessarily disruptive convoy protest occupation of downtown Ottawa.

However, the conservative press, notably The National Post and Sun newspapers, seem to remain apologetic towards the protesters’ recklessness and inconsideration toward the residents of Ottawa-Gatineau who’d suffered them. Some of us call it plain bullying.

I’d say that too many protesters were not peaceful, but rather behaving like they didn’t at all care about the residents’ mental well-being. And then there were the protesters excreting on public and private property … Just think, a large number of protesters had planned to stay there for as long as (re)supplies lasted!

Also, although I may have missed it, I didn’t catch any convoy/protest spokesperson publicly denouncing offenders, nor any protesters coming to the aid of residents being harassed.

Ironically, I could have supported the protesters’ general COVID cause, or at least have felt neutral, and therefore opposed the Emergencies Act’s implementation against the remaining protesters. But what they did to area residents changed my mind.
