Building a base in Palworld is one of the first things you should do once you have a few Pals in your party. This will allow you to keep track of all your Pals, and even summon them to complete some tasks for you.

You might be unsure how to get started with your base, or even how you can move it if you’ve decided to change to a more fitting location. Luckily, there are only a few basic steps you’ll need to follow, and a few materials you’ll need to gather. Here’s how you can create your base and change its location.

Guns give players a ton of DPS potential in Palworld, letting them fight effectively alongside their Pals. Here’s how to craft your first firearm.

How to Set Up a Base in Palworld

To set up a base, the only thing you will need to make is a Palbox. This recipe will become available to you once your character reaches Level 2. You can find it under the Technology section in the main menu, and unlock it using 1 Technology Point. Remember that once you’ve set up your Palbox and base, this is the main hub where all of your farming and crafting will take place, as well as where you and your Pals will sleep.

The recipe for a Palbox includes:

  • 1x Paldium Fragment
  • 8x Wood
  • 3x Stone

Wood is an extremely common resource that you can get as soon as you start. All you will need to do is pick up branches from the ground, or hit nearby trees either with your hands or a weapon. Using a weapon will allow you to more quickly stock up on Wood.

As for Stone, you can pick up small rocks from the ground to get 2 pieces of Stone at a time, or you can hit the larger rocks to get more using your hands or a weapon. Stone will be much easier to forage when using a weapon, just like Wood.

As for Paldium Fragments, these are a much less common resource than Wood or Stone, but can still be spotted pretty easily. You can find Paldium Fragments within small, shining blue rocks that often appear in clusters. You might find a patch of land with no Paldium Fragment Rocks at all, and another patch of land with a lot. You can use the image above as a reference to what to look out for.

You can use your hands on Paldium Fragment Rocks, but it’s better to craft yourself a weapon or a Pickaxe to more easily extract some Paldium Fragments.

How to Move a Base in Palworld

Once you’ve set up a location for your base with your Palbox, you might find that the area is not the best you could have chosen. Luckily, there’s a way to move your base and Palbox to a new location without losing all the materials you used to create your Palbox.

Start by opening up the Map Screen, and hover over your base here, which will be marked with a castle icon. Here, a prompt will show up that says ‘Disassemble Palbox’. Use the C Key to activate this, or whichever button shows up, depending on your platform. Another prompt will appear, giving you all the information on what will happen if you disassemble your Palbox. This includes:

  • Structures not placeable outside the base will be disassembled.
  • Some structures will not be disassembled and will remain.
  • All Pals at this base will be stored in your Palbox.
  • Doing this will not cause any of your Pals to disappear.

After you’ve agreed to this, all the materials you used to make your Palbox will return to you. Then, you can find a new location to place your Palbox and set up a base for you and your Pals. You might want to set up a Campfire for cooking or build up your defenses here to get the base up and running.
