After acknowledging the MW3 community’s mountain of SBMM complaints towards the end of 2023, Activision and Sledgehammer Games have yet to release any updates addressing the game’s frustrating matchmaking system. This has led to some fans expressing their disappointment on social media, calling out the CoD developers’ previously published “PR piece,” wherein they had promised more transparency and insights on improvements made throughout the years.

Unfortunately, the fan base has continued to be met with radio silence following Activision and Sledgehammer Games’ statement on the SBMM complaints. Ahead of the impending MW3 Season 1 Reloaded release date, most players are already venting their frustrations on Reddit after one disgruntled user posted: “So SHG, it has now been 40 days since your statement on discussing the matchmaking “soon.””

“So where is it then? [Are] we going to pretend it was never mentioned, or [are] we actually going to get something from this explaining the choices that have been made?” they continued. Naturally, this blunt demand prompted reactions from other frustrated fans, with one commenter saying: “It’ll be a PR piece. Don’t expect anything to change.”

On the other hand, another user calmly noted: “[The developers] have to be careful how they explain it. Reality is, they are super close to creating a casino atmosphere with EOMM, and the government will shut it down if it comes out.” Aside from the previously mentioned reason, Sledgehammer Games’ lack of communication may also be caused by their preoccupation with preparing the content set to be introduced with Season 1 Reloaded.

Of course, this is all merely speculation, as Activision and Sledgehammer Games have yet to comment on these complaints officially. That said, all fans can do now is remain patient until the developers decide to release a statement holding up their end of the MW3 SBMM bargain.
