The Finals, a newly launched fast-paced FPS game, has been grappling with a cheating problem since its release on December 7. Amidst the controversy, The Finals community manager has recently addressed the players’ requests for region-locking China, a suggestion stemming from the belief that many cheaters are operating from there.

In response to the community’s calls for region-locking China, Momo, The Finals’ community manager, clarified the development team’s stance. He emphasized that many users with Chinese usernames are not based in China but use the language’s characters to evade manual reporting. Momo also highlighted the potentially xenophobic and racist undertones of specifically targeting Chinese players, a sentiment the company does not endorse.

Some players have pointed to the leaderboards, dominated by Mandarin names with suspiciously high stats, as evidence of the cheating problem. However, as Momo explained, these users are from elsewhere besides China. Alternatives like a strict ping-lock have been suggested. However, The Finals seems more inclined to enhance its anti-cheat systems rather than implement regional restrictions.

A region lock for China would unfairly penalize most Chinese players who play honestly. Recognizing this, The Finals focuses on continued updates and improvements to ensure a fair and enjoyable experience for all players, regardless of location.

The Finals has quickly gained popularity thanks to its engaging gameplay and unique mechanics. However, the rise of cheating in the game has marred the experience for many players. The Finals’ team is tackling this issue by utilizing EAC (Easy Anti Cheat) and undisclosed additional anti-cheat measures. However, some players remain dissatisfied, citing the early stage of the game’s anti-cheat system as a reason for concern.

While The Finals battles the challenges of cheating within its community, the development team’s commitment to fairness and inclusion stands firm. Improving the anti-cheat system remains a priority, ensuring the game remains a welcoming and competitive space for players worldwide.
