Blade is an extremely popular Marvel character, who will be the focus of a solo game announced by Arkane Studios. The character has been a huge part of the Marvel pantheon of characters since his comic debut in The Tomb of Dracula #10, released in 1973, and has even had a successful trilogy of R-rated movies starring Wesley Snipes that pathed the way for Marvel movies. The character is also going to be rebooted in a future movie that will exist as a part of the MCU.

5 Comic Book Villains That Would Be Perfect For Marvel’s Blade

While not much is known about the story of Marvel’s Blade from Arkane Studios, there are five comic book villains that would be perfect for the game.

However, Blade is a character who is often held back in huge projects like this. He is a half-human vampire hunter who normally only appears at night. This violent occupation makes it difficult to feature Blade alongside other Marvel heroes, but he does have some strong connections to other characters in the comics. Perhaps some of these could appear in the upcoming Arkane Studios x Marvel Blade video game.

6 Werewolf By Night

A Darker Character In The MCU

Werewolf by Night

  • First Appearance: Marvel Spotlight #2 (1972)
  • Created by Roy Thomas and Jeanie Thomas

Werewolf by Night is another Marvel character who shares a lot in common with Blade. He is a supernatural creature who also debuted at the start of the 1970s. This monster has even shown up in his own live-action Disney+ special set in the MCU. As such, this character’s star has never been greater.

Depending on the lore the games choose to use, Werewolf by Night could be a vital ally in the upcoming Blade video game. Werewolves are normally depicted as the natural enemies of vampires. Therefore, a vampire hunter could use the help of a Marvel character like this.

5 Morbius

An Anti-Hero With Vampire Blood

  • First Appearance: The Amazing Spider-Man #101 (1971)
  • Created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane

On paper, Morbius should be an enemy of Blade. He is a vampire who needs to feed on the living to access his superpowers of flight, super strength, and durability. However, Morbius is a Spider-Man villain who has been known to fight for the side of good.

5 Superheroes Whose Secret Identities Were Exposed

Many of the most iconic superheroes in DC and Marvel comics have had their secret identities exposed to the world.

Morbius is one of the darker characters in the Marvel universe, and he has often been seen fighting alongside Blade as part of the Midnight Sons. The pair have an interesting dynamic, and his vampiric nature could make Dr Michael Morbius an unlikely ally for Blade in his upcoming video game adaptation.

4 Ghost Rider

A Supernatural Demon

  • First Appearance: Marvel Spotlight #5 (1972)
  • Created by Gary Friedrich and Mike Ploog

Whenever someone mentions the darker side of Marvel Comics, most fans will recall two names before any others. These names are Blade and Ghost Rider. The latter is instantly recognizable with his flaming skull and motorbike.

The former stuntperson, Johnny Blaze, sold his sole to the devil to save his father’s life, and must now use the power of Zarathos to punish the evil people living on Earth. Such a dark origin often puts Ghost Rider on a collision course with Blade, and the pair are both tasked with fighting the supernatural forces in the Marvel universe as part of the Midnight Sons. Ghost Rider may not have a big role in a Blade game, but it would be nice to see this instantly recognizable hero make a cameo.

3 Deadpool

The Most Well-Known R-Rated Character In Marvel

Deadpool & Lady Death

  • First Appearance: New Mutants #98 (1991)
  • Created by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza

It may not seem like Deadpool and Blade are two characters with a lot in common, but Deadpool is a hyper-violent character with a huge fanbase who could work well to prop up a Blade game. Deadpool became a mainstream success when his first movie was released in 2016, and the third movie in this franchise is now going to take place in the MCU. As such, Arkane could use this popularity to their advantage if they are making Blade as violent as he is in the movies.

With Deadpool 3 bringing both Deadpool and Wolverine into the MCU, it opens the door for plenty of familiar faces to appear.

Both Deadpool and Blade wield swords, which could make for some gory action sequences. Plus, Deadpool is a great way to lighten things up in what is most likely going to be a very dark story.

2 Elsa Bloodstone

Another Vampire Hunter From Marvel

Elsa Bloodstone

  • First Appearance Bloodstone #1 (2001)
  • Created by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning

Elsa Bloodstone is another Marvel character who received a spotlight recently in Disney+‘s Werewolf by Night special presentation. In the comics, she is a monster hunter who takes on her superhero mantle from her father, Ulysses Bloodstone. Her powers include super strength, speed, and a healing factor, and she is immune to vampire bites. It is this immunity that makes her perfectly suited to fighting vampires.

It is highly likely that the Blade in the upcoming video game is going to need some assistance in his vampire fight. Therefore, it makes perfect sense for Arkane to feature Elsa Bloodstone as an ally in their game, rather than inventing someone new and unfamiliar to fans.

1 Whistler

Blade’s Mentor And Main Ally

whistler

  • First Appearance: Blade (1998)
  • Created by David S. Goyer

Whistler is one of those rare comic book characters who debuted in a movie before he was introduced in the comic books. The director of the first Blade movie, David S Goyer, created the character of Whistler when making the film so that Blade had someone to act as his mentor. It is Whistler’s death in the movie that spurs the vampire hunter to face the film’s villain in the third act and emerge victorious.

Whistler was received very well by audiences and has since become a big part of the Blade comics. He is the character’s main ally and even helps find and create an arsenal of weapons for Blade. It is now extremely rare to see the two apart, so it would be ideal for Arkane to include Whistler in their upcoming Blade video game.
