Honkai: Star Rail Version 1.6 To Bring New Area, Characters, and More Later This Month

HoYoverse has announced when we can expect the release of the upcoming Honkai: Star Rail version 1.6.

The update, which will suceed November’s positively spooky version 1.5, is arriving for the gacha RPG on December 27th, so you won’t have to be bored in the post-Christmas period.

In version 1.6, you’ll get to explore a whole new area, the Herta Space Station Exclusion Zone, and you’ll also get to meet three brand new playable characters.

Madam Ruan Mei is just one of the new characters coming in Honkai: Star Rail version 1.6.

These three characters are Genius Society member and five-star Ice user Madam Ruan Mei, five-star Imaginary-type scholar Dr. Ratio, and four-star Quantum-type puppet Xueyi. Edgy favourites Blade and Kafka will also be making a reappearance.

In version 1.6’s new story content, you’ll be returning to Herta Space Station and meeting Ruan Mei, alongside whom you’ll explore the Seclusion Zone in an attempt to overcome a dangerous anomaly.

As well as all of this, you’re also getting new additions to the roguelike Simulated Universe mode, adding “the Path of Erudition” as well as a daring experiment to separate dice from Paths.

If you love raising cute little critters, you’ll love version 1.6, as the new Critter Pick Scavenging event asks you to “raise an assortment of charming little creatures”.

Of course, these updates come alongside new gameplay improvements as well, so Honkai: Star Rail should play more smoothly after the update drops.

If you’ve somehow missed out on Honkai: Star Rail, it’s the new free-to-play gacha RPG from Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse.

Like that game, Star Rail tasks you with building your own party of diverse characters with different elemental strengths, but unlike Genshin, it’s a turn-based game in which strategy is arguably more important than twitch reflexes.

Honkai: Star Rail version 1.6, titled “Crown of the Mundane and Divine”, is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and mobile devices on December 27th.
