Mortal Kombat 1 developer NetherRealm Studios shares an update regarding its crossplay plans, revealing that the much-anticipated feature will arrive in February 2024. However, crossplay will not be supported in the Nintendo Switch version of Mortal Kombat 1.

Mortal Kombat 1 is the 12th mainline entry in the long-running fighting game series, acting as a soft reboot following the events of Mortal Kombat 11 and its Aftermath DLC. The game launched on September 19 with a variety of single-player and multiplayer modes, but crossplay was not one of the supported features at launch. This past November, game director Ed Boon teased that crossplay would come to Mortal Kombat 1 in the near future, with additional features such as ping and Wi-Fi filters being under consideration. Boon also held a Twitter poll, allowing Mortal Kombat fans to vote for their most desired online feature. Crossplay was the most-voted option by a considerable margin, but NetherRealm did not share any specific details about the feature until the December 13 Kombat Kast livestream.
