Johnny Cage’s latest Mortal Kombat 1 seasonal outfit is being met with a negative response from many players. There are many skins available in the game, with some being DLC or unlocks tied to the latest season. While players may try to unlock most alternate attires by using Koins at The Shrine, Mortal Kombat 1 fans can also use Seasonal currency in the corresponding tab to unlock special timely skins. There’s also the Ranked Kombat League and the use of Dragon Krystals in addition to the regular story progression rewards. The many methods and outfits available give players a chance to discover and customize their Kombatants to a certain extent.

Series regular Johnny Cage has had his fair share of iconic looks in the past. With his fictional Hollywood background, the developers had more leeway to give the character alternate attires that would not work for other fighters. One of the most notable alternatives is the Ninja Mime look, which gives Cage a hilarious mime costume, complete with red beret and what looks to be a suit similar to the MK ninjas. While many players have been waiting for more creative costumes to be introduced for the fan-favorite character, his latest seasonal outfit has caused gamers to react negatively.

Mortal Kombat 1 Could Have Gotten a Popular Walking Dead Fighter

Some Mortal Kombat 1 fans are upset after finding out one of The Walking Dead’s most iconic characters could have been part of the game’s roster.

The disappointment comes from what seems to be a very minimal color scheme change, with the belt, watch, sunglasses, top and pants getting a lighter shade. The seasonal outfit, called “Flesh Forward” costs 4,000 Seasonal Kredits, which some have dismissed as low considering that they are easy to gain via invasions. However, many felt that it was a lazy recolor that didn’t warrant an actual purchase even with a low price tag.

This skin is particularly frustrating ince Johnny Cage’s other skins in Mortal Kombat 1 are quite diverse, not only in colors, but actual visuals. Johnny Cage’s Jean-Claude Van Damme skin is the only one of its kind in the game. While Mortal Kombat 11 has explored this concept by using the movie actors as alternate outfits of their in-game counterparts, Cage’s Van Damme attire is a cheeky nod to what the developers originally intended Johnny to be.

Mortal Kombat 1‘s Season of the Blood Moon brings many other interesting alternate attires that players might like more than this Johnny Cage skin. Many of the characters have undead-inspired costumes that fit the current theme well, so while this skin may stick out like a sore thumb, the majority of unlockables for the current season are diverse,
