It seems developers at Red Hook Studios are ready and raring for more Darkest Dungeon 2 content, with its first DLC. Titled The Binding Blade, we’ll take you towards the mountain and figure out how to start the Darkest Dungeon 2 DLC.
Where to start the Darkest Dungeon 2 DLC
Alongside a plethora of free patches and updates, players who purchase The Binding Blade DLC will receive two unique heroes, as well as a new mini-boss to fight called The Warlord. Our two new heroes, The Duelist and The Crusader will be the focus of this expansion pack. But since players can immediately recruit The Duelist as soon as they enter the game, we’ll be focusing on a fan-favorite making a return, The Crusader.

It seems the developers wanted people to feel like they’ve earned the right to add this legendary swordsman to your party. Because of this, you’ll need to complete a certain quest line to recruit The Crusader.
To start the Darkest Dungeon 2 DLC, you’ll need to go to the Inn where you’ll be able to grab a familiar helmet. Once you have the helmet, make sure to equip it to your stagecoach and start your run. Now, you’ll be able to experience special encounters and collect special gear on your quest to getting your favorite holy man back on the team.
How to recruit The Crusader
To recruit The Crusader in Darkest Dungeon 2, you need to collect pieces of his gear. Pieces of the gear can be found throughout the game, and you will even experience special combat encounters that will guarantee a piece of gear.
Much like most encounters in Darkest Dungeon 2, you’ll find these fights randomly throughout your climb up the mountain. So as frustrating as random fights to get random items can be, it’ll all be worth it to add this fan favorite to the party.
