Disney Dreamlight Valley: How to Get Yams

From all of the updates and content that Gameloft keeps bringing in, it is clear that Disney Dreamlight Valley is here to stay. Aside from free updates like The Pumpkin King Returns, there is a staggering amount of new stuff available for players who purchase the first expansion, A Rift in Time. Eternity Isle includes a bunch of new biomes, characters, and quests to keep players engaged and entertained for many hours to come.

Naturally, since crafting and cooking are significant mechanics in the game, there are a whole bunch of new materials that are unique to Eternity Isle. This includes ingredients like Yams, which have a variety of purposes.

How to Get Yams

Yams are an ingredient that can be grown by players, just like with potatoes and other similar kinds of crops. Since Yams is one of the first crops that players will find seeds for, it doesn’t take as long to grow as crops that can be found once players have unlocked more of Eternity Isle. After planting and watering Yam seeds, it will take 15 minutes for them to be ready for harvesting. The yield is one Yam per seed, but this makes sense since it doesn’t take long to grow them.

The seeds for Yams can be bought at Goofy’s Stall in Eternity Isle. The stalls that sell Yam seeds are the ones in the Docks, the Courtyard, the Overlook, and the Ruins. Yam seeds cost 15 Star Coins each, so players should have little trouble affording them. Yam seeds can also periodically spawn when removing a Splinter of Fate, which is the Eternity Isle equivalent of Night Thorns.

What Are Yams Used For?

After acquiring some Yams, players may be wondering what to do with them. On its own, a Yam only restores a meager 83 Energy. However, if players cook one Yam with one Flute Rute and one Canola, they will make Lo-Fries. Lo-Fries is a three-star recipe that restores 387 Energy. As far as Energy restoration goes, this is an abysmal amount. There are far better meals that players can make that will restore a lot more energy. The only reason players would want to make Lo-Fries is if they want to fill out every entry for meals in the new expansion content or if it happens to be an order at Remy’s Restaurant.

Beyond cooking a Yam as part of a meal, Yams can also be given as a gift to one of the many Disney and Pixar characters. If the Yam happens to be a daily favorite, players will get a significant boost towards the next Friendship Level with that character.
