Homelander Actor Antony Starr Tells Fan To Go Play Call Of Duty When Asked About Mortal Kombat 1

Highlights

  • The Boys’ Antony Starr won’t be voicing Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1, disappointing fans of his performance.
  • Starr suggested fans play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to hear him as Homelander in a video game instead.
  • Recent leaks hint at another crossover between Call of Duty and The Boys, bringing Homelander to the game once again.

The Boys leading actor Antony Starr recently addressed reports that he won’t reprise his role as Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1 by telling fans to play Call of Duty. Starr has gained considerable praise and recognition over the past few years for his performance as Homelander, a twisted version of the classic Superman archetype that serves as a primary antagonist of the hit Amazon Prime TV series The Boys. In both that series and the Garth Ennis-written comics of the same name, Homelander presents himself to the world as its greatest hero, while actually using his power and authority to indulge in his own narcissistic desires.

When it was announced that Homelander would be included in Mortal Kombat 1’s Kombat Pack 1 DLC as a guest fighter alongside the similar Omni-Man from Invincible, many players were excited at the chance to hear Antony Starr interact with the other members of the MK 1 roster. However, Star himself revealed that, despite Mortal Kombat 1 using his likeness for its digital version of Homelander, he would not be voicing the dark superhero in his upcoming fighting game appearance.

This has left plenty of The Boys fans disappointed, as they feel that Antony Starr’s performance as the arrogant and unstable Homelander helped make the character such a breakout success. Nonetheless, Starr reiterated that he won’t be voicing Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1 during a recent fan panel, as shown in a brief video clip shared by Twitter user Culture Crave. When asked about Mortal Kombat 1 by one of the attendees, a seemingly annoyed Star simply mentioned his recent appearance as Homelander in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and advised people to “go play that” if they want to hear him as Homelander in a video game.

Of course, Antony Starr is referencing this summer’s crossover between Call of Duty and The Boys, which featured several characters and items from the show being added to both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Warzone during Season 4 Reloaded. There, players could select Homelander as a playable skin and even gain some of his most menacing powers with the Temp-V pick-up item. Recent leaks are suggesting that the worlds of Call of Duty and The Boys could collide once again in an event that could pit the titular anti-Super group against Homelander’s team of The Seven.

In the meantime, fans won’t get to hear Antony Starr as Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1, as confirmed and re-confirmed by the actor himself many times. Starr has stated in the past that he was open to reprising his role in MK 1, but ultimately didn’t due to unknown circumstances. Whatever the reason, Starr will only appear in likeness when Homelander arrives in Mortal Kombat 1, as was the case with the Terminator in the Mortal Kombat 11 DLC.
