Fortnite will be removing the OG map from the battle royale after the Big Bang event, but it’s been teased that it will return to the battle royale at some point in 2024. Fortnite has found a great deal of success with its OG Season and the associated map, giving nostalgic fans the chance to revisit some of their favorite locations from the game’s glory days. However, fans have always known that the Fortnite OG map would only be a temporary addition to the game.

Fortnite‘s OG map returned as part of Season OG, itself bridging the gap between Chapters 4 and 5 of the game. Fortnite Season OG will be ending with the Big Bang event, scheduled to take place on December 2 at 11am PT. The event will be followed by some downtime, with Fortnite eventually returning as Chapter 5. Like previous chapters, Fortnite Chapter 5 will feature new gameplay features, a brand-new map to explore, and more.

Fortnite Leak Reveals Wall Running and More Gameplay Mechanics for Chapter 5

A recent Fortnite leak reveals several gameplay mechanics, including wall running, that will be added to the game in Chapter 5 this month.

While some fans will no doubt be excited about trying something new in Fortnite, others will be sad to see the OG map go. Luckily for nostalgic fans, it’s been teased that the Fortnite OG map is coming back. The official Fortnite Twitter account recently tweeted that Fortnite OG has exceeded the team’s expectations so much that they want to bring it back in 2024. The exact date the OG map will return to Fortnite wasn’t revealed by the tweet, but fans in the comments suggested that it returns once a year to celebrate the BR’s birthday. If Epic goes that route, the Fortnite OG would come back around September in 2024, but the developers could have completely different plans, so fans should keep that in mind.

Time will tell if and when the Fortnite OG map makes its comeback, but in the meantime, fans can look forward to Chapter 5. The Fortnite Chapter 5 leaks have confirmed that the game’s movement system is getting another upgrade, a moving train is being added to the map ala Call of Duty: Warzone, and even more crossover skins are being added to the mix. Specifically, skins based on Family Guy‘s Peter Griffin and Metal Gear Solid‘s Solid Snake are being added to Fortnite as part of Chapter 5.

Fans will have to jump in for themselves to see what all Fortnite Chapter 5 has in store. Fortnite Chapter 5 is expected to go live on Sunday, December 3, some time after the Big Bang event wipes out the OG map.
