Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is set in London, in 1868, during the Industrial Revolution. Players take on the role of Jacob Frye and his twin sister Evie. Young and reckless Assassin Jacob tries to liberate the city from the Templars, a group that seeks to control and order the world through order. Evie is a more stealthy and methodical Assassin and is the brains of the two.

Together, the Frye twins work together to defeat the Templars and liberate London. A variety of enemies stand in their way, including Starrick, a ruthless Templar who makes use of the Industrial Revolution to further his own agenda. Additionally, the Frye twins will encounter historical figures such as Queen Victoria, Charles Dickens, and Alexander Graham Bell on their journey. The game includes grappling hooks, ziplines, and rope launchers among many new gameplay elements.

This is one of the best Assassin’s Creed games in my opinion. It continues the awful present-day story that the original Assassin’s Creed trilogy fumbled, but the part with the two assassins is great. The major reason why this didn’t overperform was because of how poorly Ubisoft handled Assassin’s Creed Unity and the trainwreck of a launch that game had. Otherwise, both Assassin’s Creed Rogue and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate would have been beloved entries in the series.
