Risk Of Rain 2’s New Seekers Of The Storm Expansion Will Bring New Regions And More

Gearbox has announced a brand new Risk of Rain 2 DLC expansion by the name of Seekers of the Storm.

It’ll be the game’s second major DLC pack after last year’s Survivors of the Void and will see players exploring as-yet undiscovered regions of Petrichor V.

These will include the Lemurians’ Reformed Altar and the Treeborn Colony, as well as a “REDACTED” area in which you’ll be able to “explore the caverns and take in the suspicious smell of strawberries”.

Risk of Rain 2‘s new DLC Seekers of the Storm will give you new places to explore.

The lore for Seekers of the Storm concerns “a Soul, born without purpose, locked away and forgotten”.

She brings “another into the world she lost” in the form of The False Son, who will presumably serve as the antagonist of the DLC.

It’ll be up to you to “travel the path of the Colossus” and ascend each level in order to do battle with The False Son and put an end to his treachery.

Only one Risk of Rain 2 player will need to own Seekers of the Storm in order to enable it for the entire lobby, although you won’t be able to unlock any of the DLC’s new content if you don’t own it.

That content will include new survivors, new items, and other stuff, so if you want any of that, you will need to buy Seekers of the Storm.

Risk of Rain 2 was originally released on PC via Steam Early Access back in April 2019. It managed to rack up a million sales within its first month on release.

The game is, as you might imagine, a sequel to the original Risk of Rain, but unlike that game, this one is fully 3D.

If you’ve played the first one, though, you’ll likely recognize the gameplay loop at the core of Risk of Rain 2; battle waves of enemies, survive for as long as you can, and loot whatever you get the chance to loot along the way.

Risk of Rain 2 is available right now on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. It’s also playable on current-gen machines via backwards compatibility.

Seekers of the Storm doesn’t have a release date yet. Stay tuned for more info on that.
