Free Microsoft Flight Simulator World Update 15: Nordics & Greenland Available Now

Today both Microsoft and third-party developers had news and releases to share about Microsoft Flight Simulator aircraft and scenery add-ons.

We start with Microsoft itself, which released the free World Update 15: Nordics and Greenland. As the name implies, it includes scenery in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, the Faroe Islands, and Greenland.

Within the package, which needs to be downloaded from the in-sim official marketplace, you’ll find the following.

  • 90 hand-made points of interest.
  • 10 TIN (triangulated irregular network) cities.
  • 5 hand-crafted airports.
  • Broad-based, high-resolution geographic updates using significantly enhanced DEMs (digital elevation models) in Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.
  • Fresh aerial imagery and satellite data across the entire region.

The airports are Iceland’s Akureyri Airport (BIAR), Norway’s Mo i Rana Airport (ENRA) and Leknes Airport (ENLK), Sweden’s Kiruna Airport (ESNQ), and Finland’s Ivalo Airport (EFIV).

You can watch the scenery in the trailer below.

Next is the release of the 13th Local Legend aircraft, still from Microsoft. It’s the Saab B 17A and it’s available on the official in-sim marketplace for $14.99.

This venerable Swedish aircraft from the World War II era includes the following liveries.

  • SE-BYH; Swedish Air Force (17342)
  • Swedish Air Force (17396)
  • Imperial Ethiopian Air Force (319)
  • Finnish Air Force (SH-1)
  • Xbox Aviators Club
  • Aviators Club

Here’s a trailer for you to enjoy.

Speaking of World War II; it’s time to take a look at an aircraft that took part in it much more actively. Aeroplane Heaven announced the legendary Hawker Hurricane Mk.I.

For now, not much information has been shared besides the fact that it should be released before Christmas.

Lastly, we get a tease from iniBuilds. While the tease is a bit cryptic, the picture below showcases the Lamborghini Aventador used by Dubai police, most likely teasing Dubai International Airport (OMDB)

We’ve run out of news for today, so I’ll leave you with the reminder that here on TechRaptor, we publish daily Microsoft Flight Simulator news for your perusal, to keep you updated on its many add-ons.
