Star Citizen Will Be Free to Play For Almost 2 Weeks Later This Month

Those who are excited to try out Star Citizen following the impressive showing at CitizenCon, you’ll have a chance to take it for a spin for free soon.

Today developer Cloud Imperium Games announced the details of the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2953, which will come with nearly two weeks of free access for everyone regardless of backer status.

Gamers will be able to enjoy the full current build of the game with no restrictions from November 17 to November 30.

All you have to do to enjoy the free access is to register an account on the official site and download the client. Throughout the event, you’ll be given access to over 100 spaceships and vehicles on a brand-based rotation.

Each day of the event will be dedicated to a manufacturer, and their ships will be visible at the expo in New Babbage on Microtech. You can find the calendar below.

Star Citizen Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2953 calendar

If you’re wondering why the event is called Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2953, it’s because Star Citizen‘s in-world date progresses alongside the real world, so it’s 2953 in the game’s universe now.

Incidentally, during the IAE 2953, we’ll also get the reveal of new ships and vehicles, which never hurts. Below you can enjoy a trailer for the event.

Star Citizen is a crowdfunded game that has received $622,272,532 in funding with 4,871,993 registered users. It’s worth mentioning that they’re not all paying customers, as many just registered to enjoy free-to-play events like this one.

The game includes a persistent online universe that functions like an MMORPG and has been accessible to backers in alpha form for quite a long time and is still deep in development.

A single-player part titled Squadron 42 is also coming, and while it doesn’t yet have a firm release date, we just heard that it’s now feature-complete, so it shouldn’t take too long before we hear more.
