Silent Hill 2 Remake Developer Wants to ‘Master the Art of Horror’

In an interview with GamesRadar, Bloober Team head of production Kacper Michalski talked about the studio’s plans for the Silent Hill 2 remake. Michalski said that the team wants to “master the art of horror” and reach the top of the pantheon of horror game developers. He also said that they believe what truly makes something scary is what lies hidden in the darkness.

The GamesRadar interview pointed out that the Bloober Team is known for its horror games, such as Layers of Fear and The Medium. The studio’s games focus on story, atmosphere, and sound, and they have coined the term “hidden horror” to describe their subgenre of psychological horror.

Michalski said that Bloober Team is taking its time to nail the balancing act of staying true to its own roots, delivering on the promise of reviving a masterpiece, and ultimately, making a game that will scare players. Bloober Team has said that they want to remain faithful to the original Silent Hill 2, but they will also make some changes to improve the game for modern audiences.

The original Silent Hill 2 is praised for its haunting story and atmospheric environments. Bloober Team has said that they will focus on these elements in the remake, and they will use modern technology to create an even more immersive and terrifying experience. They have said that they will update the graphics and controls, but they will keep the core gameplay and story intact.

Hidden Horror is a great term for the original Silent Hill games because just playing them gives you a tense feeling. I ended up quitting my playthrough of the Silent Hill games because of how gloomy it all was.

As we previously reported, this game will have exclusivity for PlayStation, but we’ll see how long that lasts.
