Waven announces changes to the Battle Pass and a new competitive mode for the PvP shy

Whilst still sadly under development on mobile and inaccessible to most of us around the world, soft launch countries excluded, Waven is still making waves with its recent release. Now, Ankama has announced the arrival of an interesting new competitive mode.

Waven launched with perhaps one of the best PvP concepts in gaming; levels and equipment don’t matter, and you have access to every skill. It made for combat that was purely down to skill, and as an aside, gave you a handy way to test class builds. But what if you want to compete, yet are uncomfortable fighting other players? Well, Ankama has the answer.

From the information we have, it seems this competitive PvE will also be quite fair. Players will have a daily ticket which they will take to the time portal on the competitive island. You will step into the shoes of Count Lance Dur and do battle against the malevolent Cire Momore.

Make the most of your daily duel and rank in the top 100 players to get yourself special chests, Wakfu fragments and gems to go on a shop-spending spree. Don’t worry if you don’t get the hang of it straight away. All participants will get 500 fragments regardless, so you can get that ring you’ve been eyeing.

If you want a few extra goes at the big bad, you can always cross over to the dark side of gaming; the Battle Pass. Boo, hiss and so on. Waven’s iteration is undergoing a makeover, introducing a new progress mechanic. Challenges can be completed each week to earn 10 to 50 stars, which will let you reach higher stages. You can get yourself exclusive pets, visual effects, emotes, and now more tickets to battle Cire Momore. So we ask you, what price glory?

Waven will be globally released on the App Store and Google Play by the end of 2023, but if you are lucky in a small selection of territories, you might be able to grab it during the current soft launch.
