Diablo 4 Season 2 has a new update and it’s preventing players from accessing the game

Blizzard has now provided the patch notes for their latest update, and most of the fixes focus on addressing minor in-game details like the Season 2 Battle Pass only rewarding 666 Platinum instead of 700, and stability improvements. If you want to learn exactly what they are, we’ll be listing them below.

ORIGINAL STORY FOLLOWS: Diablo 4 developer Blizzard has quietly released a new patch for their latest ARPG entry, and it is somehow preventing players from accessing the game. Though most updates in the past have been communicated ahead of release, it seems that these changes weren’t, as no patch notes have been released at the time of writing.

With the Diablo 4 Season 2 journey already well underway for most fans, many have predictably wanted to get back into the grind as soon as possible. Unfortunately, this update is preventing the community from doing so, as evidenced by multiple social media posts complaining about the inaccessible servers and absurd queue times that are now plaguing the game.

“Anyone else update their game and can no longer get in?” asked Fluffypancake8719 on Reddit. “Stuck at Start Game Pending. If you have not updated your game, don’t do it yet.” Several comments below the same thread echoed similar issues, as most continue to have trouble dropping into Sanctuary and continuing their Season 2 fight against the Vampire Lord Zir.

Fortunately, some players have shared a few simple fixes they employed so they can gain access to the game. Redditor bensu88 said: “PC user here. I restarted BNet client and now it works.” A console user named misterspideyjl then noted: “I just restarted my whole PS5, and was able to get in right after that.” Based on these comments, it seems all you’ll need to do after downloading and installing the patch is to restart the platform you’re playing on completely.
